TAAG Accounting is looking for an experienced Manager for Accounting and Tax who can take the lead on all the finance and accounting aspects of the firm. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic individual who is seeking to progress their career in Public Accounting. This position also provides the chance to progress into becoming a partner at the firm.
Reporting to the Partners and Senior Management team, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for working directly with the clients and on all aspects of the accounting and taxation processes.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Accounting and Taxation Practices:
- Regular financial reports, income statements, balance sheets and statements of cash flows.
- Personal and Corporate Income Tax returns.
- Working paper files and corporate tax provisions and returns.
- Timely and accurate journal entries as required.
- HST returns, payroll remittances and bank reconciliations.
- Manage, prepare and review:
- Financial forecasts and budgets.
- General ledger accounts activities to ensure account accuracy of financial statements.
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
Client Relations and Support:
- Provide tax strategies and tax planning for clients, including formalizing tax planning tools for retirement.
- Engage and promote firm services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
Leadership:
- Lead and provide technical guidance on engagements.
- Manage, support, and train a small team of staff accountants.
- Ensure the implementation of policies, procedures, and quality standards for the maintenance of the firm’s financial accounting policies and systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards.
Candidate Profile:
- Quality and detail oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong ability to problem-solve and use good sound judgment.
- Self-assured with promoting firm services, working on/off-site with clients.
- Strong communication skills and ability to answer client questions.
- Have an accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA, CPA).
- Experience working with Small/Medium Businesses.
- Minimum of two years of management experience.
- Knowledge or exposure to ASPE/IFRS would be considered an asset.
- Capable of working under pressure and managing challenging situations.
- Good knowledge with Excel, Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Tax prep and CaseWare.
- Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
- Collaborative leader and team player.
