Honeywell is currently recruiting for a Tax Manager to join the team in Mississauga, ON or Markham, ON. Reporting to the Senior Manager of International Tax, the Tax Manager is responsible for Canadian tax return compliance, reporting, tax audits and planning to maximize tax savings opportunities that contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax payment and reporting obligations.
Responsibilities
Tax Audits and Controversies – Manage and respond to requests for information from government officials to successfully defend tax direct and indirect tax filing positions. Interact with current and former business groups to coordinate and implement audit strategies. Stay abreast of legal developments and industry positions to accurately evaluate options and responses to requests for information.
Tax Return Compliance – Prepare Canada and provincial tax filings (and review tax filings prepared by an outside service provider) to ensure the accurate reporting of income taxes. Identify, research, and evaluate alternative filing positions to determine and implement supportable, cost effective filing positions. Preparation of workpapers and assistance with the compilation of data for completing the tax returns and other forms (e.g. T1134s, T1135s, T2, and T106s). Manage the timely and efficient administration of information assimilation and reporting through the review of processes and implementation of procedures that enhance speed and efficiency of administration. Coordinate data gathering and filing of SR&ED claims.
Financial Reporting – Support the accurate preparation of Honeywell’s tax accounts for financial statement purposes. Assist in evaluating uncertain tax positions and business combinations to properly reflect the tax treatment of such items in Honeywell’s financial statements. Analyze the tax aspect of financial projections and forecasts.
Planning Activities – Collaborate with business units to proactively identify and research tax planning opportunities. Assist the tax planning group in implementing structural and non-structural tax planning strategies which maximize tax savings on a defensible basis. Work with businesses to implement tax efficient transfer pricing. Evaluate the tax effect and implications of business strategies, contemplated transactions, and business proposals to properly advise management.
Process Improvement - Utilization of appropriate technology tools (Corptax, Alteryx, Tableau & OneSource), and the adoption of standard methodologies in the completion of tax projects
Legislative Activities – Monitor industry positions relevant to Honeywell’s business operations.
The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP clearance.

YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s Degree in tax, finance, or accounting.
- Minimum of 6 years directly related and progressively responsible tax experience.
- Accommodation is available upon request for applicants with disabilities under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Experience working within a Big 4 environment or large accounting firm
- Effective presentation skills
- Direct and indirect tax experience highly desirable
- Experience with iFirm Tax Software, Alteryx, Tableau & OneSource
- Broad technical knowledge of tax laws and regulation
- Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company
- Advanced degree in taxation or CPA with completion of CICA In-Depth Tax course preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues
