Job Description
We are seeking a Tax Manager to support a public accounting firm in Ottawa, ON.


This is a remote opportunity and open to local candidates only!


Key Responsibilities:


  • Directing overall progress of fieldwork through planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating work
  • Handle client engagements
  • Manage, direct, and monitor multiple accounting, bookkeeping, and tax projects


Requirements


Education:


  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance


Required:


  • Full knowledge and ability to perform an analytical review of tax returns and management letters, as well as present the results of that review in a clear and insightful manner.
  • Essential personal and leadership characteristics for continuing growth and development of responsible, trained staff by supervising and providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
  • Currently enrolled in 3rd year or completed CICA/CICPA in-depth tax course.
  • A comprehensive understanding of Canadian accounting, and tax rules and regulations.
  • Experience in managing, leading and motivating junior and intermediate staff, including participation in performance reviews, and providing career path input.
  • 5-10 years of progressive Canadian public accounting experience with Canadian corporate tax experience and interest in the areas of Canadian tax accounting and tax provisions.
  • A commitment to identifying, developing, and sharing best practices for the firm to work more efficiently and effectively.
  • Aptitude to cultivate positive and professional relationships with clients and understand business and industry sufficiently to dispense general business advice.
  • Acquisition of the CPA designation.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications (Taxprep, Caseware/Caseview, MS Office, QuickBooks/Sage 50)
  • Business owner mindset to monitor performance goals actively, business development and profitability/innovation by identifying and implementing ideas for new business, service offerings and marketing strategies and initiatives while actively networking and marketing the various services of the firm.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level. Employees may be eligible to participate in company employee benefit programs such as health insurance, savings plan, pension plan, disability plan, vacation pay, sick time, holiday pay, and work, personal, and family time off in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
