Are you ready to embark on an epic adventure in the event planning /project coordination world? Do you possess an unwavering passion for orchestrating chaos and turning it into memorable experiences? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We're seeking a fearless and energetic individual to join our team as a Volunteer Event Coordinator for a planned Sport Karate event in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
Please note that this position pays only in smiles, laughter, sarcasm, and occasional coffee runs if you happen to live within a caffeine-powered sprint of our office.
Key Responsibilities:
Take charge of coordinating our mind-boggling, adrenaline-pumping Sport Karate event with minimal supervision (superpowers not included).
Play the role of the ultimate multitasker: juggling tasks, herding cats (figuratively, of course), and keeping everything on track like a circus ringmaster (tightrope walking skills not required).
Embrace the challenge of long hours, late nights, and occasional weekends spent whispering sweet nothings to your spreadsheets.
Nurture and maintain relationships with our extraordinary team of volunteers, who may or may not have their own super-secret code names.
Initiate relationships & collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and sponsors, all while wearing a cape and maintaining a secret identity (optional but highly encouraged).
Qualifications:
A burning desire to break into the sporting event planning/ project coordination industry and prove your mettle (not literally; we can't have flames in the workplace).
Exceptional organizational skills that can tame even the most unruly events. We're talking about handling chaos like a maestro conducting a symphony of bedlam.
A sense of humor that's as sharp as a sword (or a stapler) and the ability to laugh in the face of unforeseen event catastrophes (think weather disasters, rogue llamas, or spontaneous sparring matches).
Proficiency in time management, with the ability to stretch minutes into hours and days into eternity (time manipulation powers are advantageous but not necessary).
Superb interpersonal skills that can charm even the grumpiest vendor and convince them to part with their precious goods at no cost (magic spells or hypnotic abilities not provided).
Perks and Benefits:
An invaluable opportunity to gain experience and make connections in the sport event coordination industry (you can't put a price on networking here, but if you could, it would be zero).
A chance to be part of an extraordinary team that strives to create a unique & awe-inspiring event (and occasionally breaks into uncontrolled fits of laughter).
A certificate of awesomeness (suitable for framing) to validate your heroic efforts and contributions (because trophies and cash are overrated).
Free admission to our event, where you'll get to witness firsthand the fruits of your labor and bask in the glory of a job well done (and maybe snag a leftover cup of coffee or two).
If you're an aspiring event coordination superhero with a heart full of passion and a mind bursting with creativity, we want to hear from you!
To apply, send us your super-powered resume and a cover letter that showcases your wit, humor, and willingness to conquer the event coordination universe (or at least a corner of it).
Disclaimer: This position may cause you to develop a penchant for colorful metaphors and an obsession with post-it notes. Side effects may also include the occasional craving for confetti and an insatiable urge to dance to catchy tunes.
Two minutes of seriousness (just 2): Our Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association is planning a unique event aimed for the Spring of 2024. There is plenty of time, but all that is started as of right now is the base project charter and deliverable list. We will be hosting this event in Edmonton or surrounding area depending on cost; however, the venue will be fairly large. We will be going after both public and private funding for this event, interacting with National level organizations and personalities. Letter writing & communications will be necessary skills. The successful candidate will be given the project information as well as be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement as our project is unique to sport Karate. There all done being serious!
