Job Description


The Head of Communications for Ford of Canada is responsible for leading the communications team in Canada. In this role, they will serve as the chief communications strategist and be a member of the Ford of Canada leadership team.


Responsibilities


Major Responsibilities


  • Leads the communications team responsible for Ford Blue, Model e, Ford Pro, Lincoln, Canadian-based Connectivity and Innovation Centers, Employee and Corporate Communications, primary interface with the respective business unit Communications’ leads
  • Oversees ongoing enterprise storytelling
  • Responsible for managing and delivering metrics-driven reputation strategic plan through media relationship, social media outreach, advocacy, employee communications and corporate news
  • Oversees the development of communications strategies and launch plans for Ford of Canada’s major initiatives
  • Serve as primary corporate spokesperson for all crisis and issues management
  • Manage Ford of Canada’s budget with a focus on waste elimination and cost efficiencies
  • Responsible for leading national network of agency teams based in five cities
  • Provides ongoing business communications counsel on major customer, financial, legal, government, dealer and human resources initiatives and issues for Canada
  • Continuous personal development of functional competencies and leadership agilities
  • Serves as the communications lead for Ford of Canada’s president and CEO and represents Ford of Canada on the global and North American Ford Blue communications teams
  • Working together with the Ford Blue team, lead in strategic communications counsel of national labor negotiations


Qualifications


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Superior problem-solving, decision-making and project management skills
  • Candidate should be knowledgeable about the earned media landscape and have prior experience working with journalists and influencers
  • Track record of success for executing strategic communications efforts
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills, with internal and external contacts
  • Knowledge and experience in digital storytelling and tools highly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree ( Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
  • Experience in crisis and issues management, ability to manage and lead others through challenging situations
  • Attention to detail and consistency
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications and project management skills
