Job Purpose:
Reporting to the VP of Programs & Policy (P&P) the Head of Program Excellence & Impact Delivery is part of the P&P Leadership Team and works closely with our private and public sector fundraisers, including supporting the development and implementation of strategies for resource acquisition, championing new product development, and thought leadership through engaging externally with donors, partners and the public to represent programs as required.
As Head of Program Excellence & Impact Delivery you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans, overseeing all World Vision Canada field funding, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs that create measurable impact in the communities we serve.
In partnership with others in the organization, you will champion the use of technology and data in this digital age to ensure impact is delivered through our programs and communicated well to our donors and partners.
Leading a team of development experts, you will seek to multiply talent and expertise to ensure that the team is creating maximum value for our field partners and our partners in Canada.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments in the digital innovation and impact space and use this knowledge to inform program development and strategy.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the organization's international programs team with a focus on driving innovation, program quality and impact in new ways through the use of technology in a digital world.
  • Represent the organization externally (e.g., international conferences and events related to development programming,) and contribute to thought leadership in the areas of programmatic innovation and impact.
  • Together with others in the organization champion the vision for, and continually seek new ways of delivering program quality and impact, through leveraging technology and data.
  • Champion the use of data and data-driven decision making across the team and support the cultural change management processes that may be required to promote this shift.
  • In partnership with other stakeholders, identify ways to effectively leverage digital technology to enhance operations, create efficiencies and maximize team output.
  • Collaborate with internal groups related to development programming across World Vision International to ensure effective program delivery and best practices.
  • Provide oversight to field funding at the enterprise level ensuring that program expenses are within budgetary limits and program goals are achieved.
  • Optimize key features of digitization to promote process efficiency and workflows and gain access to valuable and actionable insights throughout the project life cycle that fosters continuous learning and improvement.
  • Provide leadership to a team of program managers, grant managers, functional leads and other staff, seeking to multiply their talents and expertise to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to support diversified and growing income from the Public Sector including oversight to flagship grant funded programs and membership in advisory bodies.
  • Provide strategic support from a programmatic perspective to private revenue resource acquisition in World Vision Canada including mass marketing and philanthropy with a focus on digital innovation and customer centricity.
Qualifications:
  • Strong experience in leadership, coaching and mentorship with the ability to multiply expertise within teams and create new opportunities for learning and improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and accelerate innovation; knowledge of agile methodologies and working styles an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • 5 years minimum experience, 10 years preferred, in international programing across the areas of Relief, Development and Advocacy.
  • Knowledge and experience with leveraging technology and data to enhance operations and communicate impact delivery in new ways.
  • University Degree in a field related to international or community/social development or equivalent capabilities & expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-organizationally and cross-culturally in a complex organization to ensure alignment and realization of strategic goals.
  • Expectation of international travel of approximately 2-4 trips per year, including potentially to high-risk environments.
