The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Service Technologist/Engineer will include, but not be limited to the following:
1.Engineering Customer support and Troubleshooting
a.Working closely with customers to resolve engineering and field issues.
b.Working with suppliers in order to resolve product integration issues.
2.Field Work
a.Site work related to machinery which may include oversight, commissioning or troubleshooting.
b.Travel to customer site will be required in order to accomplish engineering work and troubleshooting.
3.Research
a.Research of standards and regulations for design requirements.
b.Research of components and/or systems to meet customer design requirements including cost, manufacturing, operation, and maintenance criteria.
c.Research of competitive products to enhance understanding of market and machine application.
d.Provide input for estimating engineering requirements of a potential project for client proposals.
4.Sales
a.Quoting component repair and customer support tasks.
5.Testing
a.Testing of components, assemblies or complete machines in accordance with customer requirements using various instrumentation.
6.Report Writing
a.Generation of reports or power point presentations as required identifying the scope, objectives, and/or research findings of projects providing substantiation of the work involved to meet requirements of the customer’s scope of work.
7.Conceptual Design
a.From customer scope of machine requirements and direction from senior control systems engineering staff, develop schematics of electrical and electronic control systems.
b.From customer scope of machine requirements and concepts provided by senior engineering staff, develop models of components, assemblies and systems using solid modeling software.
c.Appropriately specify and electrical components required to satisfy the physical needs of the machine design.
d.Generation of preliminary cost analysis of components, assemblies and/or systems.
8.Design Analysis
a.Development of process flow charts.
b.Engineering design and analysis of electrical system parameters including but not limited to proper sizing of components, application of safety standards and generally accepted electrical engineering practices.
c.Engineering design analysis to substantiate quantity or quality parameters including regulatory and customer requirements of components, materials and systems.
9.Detail Drawings
a.Using SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD, produce schematics and wiring layout drawings.
b.Using Solidworks modeling software, generate manufacturing drawings as required for components, assemblies and systems.
c.Generation of BOM’s (Bills of Material).
10.Engineering Changes
a.Substantiate requirements of the need for engineering changes.
b.Generate appropriate engineering change documentation.
11.Prototype Assembly
a.Assembly of systems or machines.
