Job Title: Technologist, Food Processing – Electrical Automation

Department: School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts

Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, electrical design software, and experience with AutoCAD/Revit is considered an asset

(5-to-10+ years) of construction building design experience in CANADA, in Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Recreational, and Industrial.

Experience in Fire Alarm systems, Communication and Visual systems, Door hardware, Security and Intercom, and Panic/Duress Systems.

LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are considered assets

Design Experience (1-5+ years) in consulting electrical design engineering for buildings is an asset.

Strong understanding of Emergency Generators, power, and Life/Safety devices.

Provide design input and advice based on experience and knowledge of industry best practices.

Building security, fire detection and telecommunication systems (working knowledge considered an asset).

Strong communication and organizational skills. 

Lead the preparation of electrical design deliverables, including drawings, lists and schedules in coordination with electrical engineers.

Support in the preparation and coordination HDH electrical design packages

Mentor and lead junior designers or drafters in their technical development

Drive to continue to improve existing knowledge base and skill-sets.

Field experience and knowledge is an asset.

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in municipal facilities operations and working with a Computerized Work Management System.

Knowledge of the Region’s purchasing bylaw procedures and requirements for contracting services. 

Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation, Acts, and industry standards. 

Knowledge of basic chemistry, environmental sampling methodologies, groundwater servicing, water supply operating procedures, water and wastewater treatment processes and quality standards.

Monitors contracted work with contractors and consultants during routine inspection, testing and maintenance.

Assists in technical and compliance related issues. 

Ensure that training programs are developed for assembly skills.

Act using knowledge of the electrical safety code and its application in industrial wiring and power distribution.

5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial

Experience as a technologist in a high-volume manufacturing environment is an asset.

Experience working in a regulated industry is an asset, e.g. pharmaceuticals or aerospace

Experience with Industrial Controls electronics and PLC’s

Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy legislative/regulatory requirements

Educational courses in engineering with related coursework using industry software, principles and technology preferred.

Experience with any programming languages like C++, java, Python, .Net

Knowledge of MS Office, PI, SAP and Ariba.

Supports the plant on searching and keeping abreast about new technologies and equipment.

Experience in electrical design and project and construction management.

Electrical Engineering Diploma plus several years related experience including experience in electrical design.

Strong knowledge of power generation electrical systems, PLCs, electrical protection, transmission & distribution system, substations, renewable integration etc.

Working knowledge of “AutoCAD” and related third party software.
