Enterprise Category Management - Senior Advisor
Contract: 12 months with a view to extend
Location: Calgary

Responsibilities include:
* Manage end-to-end Category Management process of assigned categories in support of Information Technology and the Corporate Project Management Office.
* Assess risk and support the development of enterprise category strategies in partnership with budget owners to achieve overall objectives
* Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders at the enterprise level
* Support the annual & long-term strategic planning and budgeting of the Information Technology Projects and Managed Services portfolios to secure supply of goods and services
* Leverage spend data, business requirements, external market data, and other necessary information to develop category strategies and influence implementation
* Lead and manage all aspects of complex sourcing initiatives including RFx activities, development of negotiation strategies and recommendations to award
* Develop negotiation plans and lead stakeholders through the negotiation process
* Review, interpret, analyze, draft and negotiate complex Information Technology contracts
* Drive post-award value through effective contract & supplier performance management
* Ensure data collected and information created is accurate and accessible
* Ensure compliance to all applicable corporate policies, including the Supply Chain Management policy, as well as legal and regulatory requirements
* Provide mentorship to team members
* Act as delegate to Senior Manager

* Internal: Information Technology team, Corporate Project Management Office (CPMO), Supply Chain Management, Legal, Finance, Internal Audit, other teams as required
* External: Suppliers and other external groups as needed
Deliverables

Planning & Budgeting
* Maintain a high degree of market knowledge
* Stay informed on and share supply chain trends impacting the business and industry
* Annual delivery plan detailing planned activities within the category
* Contribution of key category price and supply information to business stakeholders' annual budgeting process
Supplier Management
* Create and nurture positive, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers by challenging and motivating suppliers to optimize service outcomes
* Ensure suppliers are commercially and technically qualified and meet safety requirements
* Establish and maintain supplier performance management measurement tools
Sourcing & Contracting
* Provide expertise to and oversight of the development and deployment of sourcing strategies, strategic contract negotiations & contract drafting to maximize sustainable competitive advantage and operational performance
* Ensure sourcing and contracting strategies support business objectives, approved sourcing channels and enable efficient procurement and materials management practices
* Lead cross-functional teams to deliver required sourcing outcomes in accordance with schedule
* Ensure contracts fully reflect final negotiated outcomes and award decisions
* Plan for contract implementation to ensure excellent transitions to internal operations stakeholders
* Help to institutionalize consistent and leading sourcing processes and practices
* Ensure consistent use of modern sourcing methods to drive exceptional total value creation and supply assurance
* Provide contract expertise and consultation early in the sourcing phase of complex categories
Procurement & Receiving
* Ensure procurement activities follow approved buying, receiving and transportation channels to minimize transaction costs
Materials Management
* Advocate for the utilization of surplus materials where appropriate
Risk Management & Data Integrity
* Identify and apply treatments for supply chain risks within the category
* Aggregate, normalize, and analyze spend data to identify potential value opportunities
* Advance capture and utilization of key market, spend and performance analytics to further business decisions, manage risk to supply and drive value in sourcing and supply activities
* Support risk reporting activities within the SCM department

* Build and maintain effective relationships with business stakeholders and suppliers
* Surface internal constraints and resolve conflicting viewpoints and complex issues effectively and fairly while delivering high performance, service and quality outcomes
* Identify and present opportunities to continuously improve category performance in support of business stakeholders
* Actively drive and champion system implementation and integration initiatives and continuous improvement initiatives to simplify and improve supply chain solutions
* Support the enforcement of and drive compliance to policies
* Identify opportunities for process and system improvements

* Mentor junior members of the team on Supply Chain principles and activities

Qualifications
* Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
* 8+ years of progressively responsible and related experience
* Post-Secondary Degree in Business, Finance, or related field
* SCMP designation is considered an asset
* Enterprise-wide, strategic thinker
* Ability to work at ease with team members, customers, suppliers, and legal counsel
* Working knowledge of upstream and downstream oil & gas industry
* Experience leading cross-functional teams through Category Management processes
* Ability to take complex situations and leverage problem solving, communication, and project management skills to present sound recommendations
* Experience negotiating large, complex commercial agreements
* Proven experience leading and managing all aspects of complex sourcing initiatives including RFx activities, development of negotiation strategies and recommendations to award
* Strong financial acumen to assess, verify and interpret deal economics and commitments
* End-to-end Supply Chain experience including processes, tools and the interdependencies between category management, purchasing, materials management & logistics, supplier performance & relationship management
* Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills with ability to tailor messaging to varying levels of stakeholders
