Our Advisor public awareness will assist with execution of a proactive program, including baseline and supplemental program elements in the US and Canada. Also, while in this role we will be looking for your expert decision making abilities that will be critical for the overall success of our programs.

What You Will Do
  • Supports efforts to the gather qualitative and quantitative research to improve communication and outreach to Public Awareness audiences
  • Assists in the preparation for public awareness audits by federal or state regulators and responses to regulatory requests.
  • Advises senior management on regulatory mandates for public awareness and facilitates the continued execution of a program that goes beyond compliance to meet the long-term operating goals of the pipeline systems and improves the Enbridge brand and reputation
  • Contributes to the annual implementation reviews of the Public Awareness Plan, assesses potential changes as indicated by review findings, and inclusion into relevant internal plans and procedural documents (e.g., O&M, O&MP, IMS)
  • Provides public awareness information as needed for regulatory approval for projects and assists with the transition of projects and acquisitions into the Public Awareness Program
  • Working with the Public Awareness Program team and Community & Indigenous Engagement teams, coordinate implementation and execution of the Supplemental program with Region and Area operations managers, right-of-way, and other groups as needed, including documentation of decisions on execution of the Supplemental program. This may require travel to field locations to provide training and reinforcement on Supplemental activities and regulatory requirements regarding the Supplemental program, including documentation (see below).
  • Contributes to the implementation of the Baseline program and of the Supplemental program and presentation of information to senior management as needed
  • Assists with the gathering and submission of data to the ESG team on an annual basis
  • Working with the Public Awareness Program team, complete the Baseline program, including the production of multiple partner brochures for liquids and gas pipelines; coordination of mailing program and baseline documentation with GIS/mapping and mailing staff and vendors; and contacts with customers, particularly affected public, as required after the mailing
Public Awareness Documentation
  • A key responsibility of this position ensuring appropriate documentation of all public awareness activities per regulatory requirements, and making sure it is quickly available for regulatory audits, during an ongoing incident and for incident investigations
  • Collection of documentation and data, to include entry into applicable databases
Public Awareness Effectiveness Measurement
  • A key accountability of the public awareness program is efficiency measurement, as required by regulation, and subsequent data analysis and determination if the measurement outcomes indicate changes to the program. This will include the collection of data and metrics to support an evaluation of the effectiveness of the program, will also assist with the development of recommendations to resolve any identified issues and presentation of such to leadership.
Industry Support and Policy Development
  • May represent Enbridge on relevant industry committees and task groups in support of public awareness policy development and other issues as assigned
Crisis Communications & Response Team
  • May serve as part of the crisis communications & response team (CCRT) during operational incidents or emergencies and non-operational events such as a reputational crisis. If identified as a member of the CCRT, training will be provided
Who You Are
You have:
  • Strong project management abilities along with experience in and understanding of large, public company with operations in multiple regions
  • 4+ years of experience in public awareness programs or communications field, preferably in the energy or transportation industry along with a bachelor’s degree in public affairs, journalism, communications, or a related field. For candidates who do not possess a degree 7+ years of related experience is required.
  • A solid customer focus with the ability to listen, identify key issues, advise, and maintain confidentiality while exhibiting strong interpersonal skills including consultation, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution

  • Able to deal with a variety of external and internal subject areas and senior management along with managing multiple projects at once under constant timeline constraint pressures

  • Work performed in typical office environment with 40–50-hour work weeks that could extend to weekends and evenings for special projects or emergencies
  • Travel within Canada 10-15% with emergency travel to incidents. Occasional travel to the United States
Physical Requirements Include But Are Not Limited To
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
