About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Trading, Supply & Logistics (TSL) NG & NGL Commercial Pipelines, the Senior Scheduler is accountable for the safe, compliant, and value-optimized movement of Natural Gas products to and from hubs throughout domestic and international markets. The scope includes ensuring continuous operations of Cenovus producing assets, assisting the broader team in setting nomination strategies, and completing those strategies.

This position is a critical front-line operational role, accountable for handling the supply plan for Natural Gas a transportation and storage, identifying, evaluating and executing opportunities that enable operational performance and drive commercial value, and additionally provides backup coverage for various scheduling roles as required.

This position is included in the on-call rotation which includes scheduling and balance trading on both Saturday and Sunday every 4-6 weeks.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary interface for both Senior Cenovus personnel and the pipelines and terminals in which we transport our products
• Assist with reconciliation of best available volumes with mid and back-office functions
• Implement operationally on trade strategies from concept to the execution stage in a risk-controlled manner
• Ability to cover all Natural Gas desks ensuring SOPs are accurate and current;
• Deliver reliable supply while at the same time minimizing working capital, enhancing commercial delivery and identifying optimization opportunities
• Understand, track, develop communications and advise key stakeholders of Force Majeure, cuts, curtailments and increases
• Influence others to support continuous improvement and collaboration efforts across the bench
• Provide Common Stream Operator (CSO) desk coverage
• Provide support and advice to traders by determining daily physical position, and transportation capacity and utilization forecasts by asset
• Use of in-depth knowledge of contracts, work closely with Business Development and Trading
• Lead transportation FT-R position per transactional delegations of authority, shift FT-D Transport as required
• Ensure best practices across all Natural Gas pipelines are documented and adhered to
• Nominate volumes for shipments to domestic and international pipelines that correspond with the TSL trade strategy
• Awareness of physical exposures at all times to ensure optimization of asset operations

Qualifications:

• Formal education in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 8+ industry experience in Natural Gas logistics and analytics
• Excellent understanding of North American commodity transportation networks, specifically movements of Natural Gas
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, and able to work with minimal direction
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Proven experience in Business Development and weekend balance trading is an asset
• Understanding of scheduling and trade cycles including nominations, pipeline restrictions, and 3rd party cuts
• Actively supports change management through the stewardship of delivering new
• System Experience including Allegro, WebIce, Pipeline Portals (TC, Enbridge, etc), considered an asset.
• Understanding of conventional and oil sands upstream production operations
• Ability to work optimally in a fast-paced environment meeting time sensitive deadlines
• Strong understanding of logistical interdependencies and ability to strategically lead through planned and unplanned disruptions
• Deep understanding of pipeline and storage operations, tariffs, rules and regulations, throughput deficiencies, connection agreements and operating agreements
