Job Description

EHS Partnerships Ltd. (EHSP) is seeking a qualified safety advisor to join our Safety Risk Management consulting group. If you are looking for a position where you will learn while helping others get better, this is the job for you.

We are looking for a mid-career safety professional with 8-10 years of experience having worked in a variety of industries. The successful candidate will provide consulting safety advice and services to our clients. In particular you will provide expertise and advice to our clients regarding the improvement to their health and safety best practices and management system. Our primary role is supporting our clients as they work to create and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time salaried position with full benefits, educational and professional development allowance, mentoring from senior safety professionals, and RSP matching. The salary range for this position is $80,750-$96,250 per annum commensurate with your skills, qualifications, certifications, and leadership qualities.

We are guided by Partners who have been providing OH&S consulting services throughout North America since 1986. We help clients keep their employees safe by developing and improving their health and safety management system through technical testing, monitoring, auditing, and training. Our client and specific industry experience include all commodities (oil and gas, base metal, and soft rock mining), real estate and facility management, manufacturing of all types, light and heavy construction, transport, municipal, education, and service sectors.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide consulting safety advice and services to our Clients. In particular you will provide expertise and advice to our Clients regarding safety and health best practices. Our primary role is supporting our Clients as they work to create and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards

The work of a consultant safety advisor includes:

  • Incident Investigation: Assist our clients by providing thorough investigations to determine the root cause. Our main focus is on providing leadership in causal analysis.
  • COR, Compliance and Risk Audits: Review and assess our clients’ safety policies, procedures, and practices, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Training and Education: Develop educational programs and host training sessions for our clients regarding safety processes, incident prevention, hazard identification, and proper use of safety equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document your findings and provide a record of your work. Your writing skills must be fully developed allowing to write detailed reports.Spelling and grammar count in our business.
  • Developing Safety Programs: Assist our clients in developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs tailored to the client’s operations.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Support safety culture development within our client’s organization.
  • Risk Assessment: Assist clients in evaluating their workplace and identify potential hazards and the related risks that may pose a threat.

The work will be a combination of field-based activities and time spent in the office for program development and reporting. The role can be based out of our Calgary or Edmonton office. Some day trips will be required to support additional locations within the Province. Some out of town will be required M-F.Hours of work will average 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on client needs and travel requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor communication to all employee levels
  • 8-10 years of experience in a variety of industries
  • Preference given to externally certified, consultant qualified COR auditors (ACSA, AMHSA, AASP, CCSA, Energy Safety Canada, etc.)
  • Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is required
  • Extensive knowledge of legislation/industry best practices regarding confined space entry, working at heights, hazardous materials abatement and disposal, and control of hazardous energy
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license, with a reliable vehicle (a truck is preferred) for travel
  • Experience in running safety meetings, conducting worksite inspections, and knowledge of construction safety an asset
  • Training and experience in completing incident investigations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Completion of a degree, diploma, or certificate in health and safety is required
