Director, Operations Excellence Jobs

We are seeking a Director, Operations Excellence to join our team in Winnipeg or Toronto.
The Director, Operations Excellence is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Continuous Improvement portfolio for People Corporation. As a Continuous Improvement champion, this individual will be responsible for defining and evolving the operations excellence mindset across the enterprise.
The Director, Operations Excellence will:

• Lead the development, communication, and implementation of enterprise-wide operations excellence capability that will drive a culture of continuous improvement to meet intended business outcomes.
• Coach and lead a broad range of stakeholders and internal process team to achieve Continuous Improvement outcomes.
• Act as a champion and thought leader in Operations excellence and innovation within the organization.
• Assist in the development and delivery of Operations Excellence training.
• Manage multiple Continuous Improvement initiatives in support of strategic and business line objectives. This includes the implementation of Lean Principles. The initiatives may range from small rapid improvements to large-scale Lean transformations.
• Navigate complex and ambiguous situations with numerous stakeholders and diverging interests to drive process change.
• Manage a small team by coordinating activities and coaching team member(s), ensuring that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided.
• Analyze business processes to determine existing performance in terms of service, cost, and quality. This consists of information gathering through various methods including interviews, workshops, and observations.
• Document Operations Excellence best practices and assist in their deployment across divisions.

To be successful as a Director, Operations Excellence with People Corporation, you will need:

• Undergraduate degree in business administration or other related field (An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
• Advanced knowledge of Lean processes and Continuous Improvement processes.
• Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Able to take the bigger picture and break it down into manageable progressive steps to ensure progress is made on multiple projects. Ability to collaborate with multiple teams to set programs, operational goals and plan in keeping with the strategic direction of the function.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, communicates clearly, with purpose, and adapts communication style appropriately to suit audience.
• 8+ years of experience managing large-scale process improvement initiatives.
• The ability to influence others, create alignment, generate commitment to goals and inspire others to action while managing diverse stakeholder groups and multiple change initiatives.
• Ability to set programs, operational goals, and plans in keeping with the strategic direction.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to strategic direction of the function.
• Strong ability to lead by demonstrating desired values, behaviours, and work practices.
• Experience operating in a matrix reporting structure, with multiple stakeholders and leaders.

All-star candidates will have:

• Lean Six Sigma certification.
• Experience working with system integrators.
• Master’s degree.
• Previous Insurance industry experience.
• Project management certifications or experience in managing multiple priorities (e.g., PMP).
