Job Description
The primary role of the reliability manager is to improve reliability of the physical assets by eliminating unanticipated failures. This is done through development of a sound proactive maintenance strategy, analysis of failure causes, recommending design enhancements, and developing improved repair methods.


The reliability manager is responsible for the reliability of all equipment in the area to which they are assigned. They maintain appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or completed work.


Essential Functions:


  • Performs life cycle cost analyses on all engineering design changes
  • Maintains the PM (Preventive Maintenance) and PdM (Predictive Maintenance) systems and process within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Reviews required asset management performance reports
  • Receives completed Reliability Inspection data sheets and initiates appropriate action
  • Works closely with the Maintenance and Operations Departments in performing RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) and asset management improvement
  • Educates other employees about reliability concepts and local reliability implementation
  • Participate actively in the weekly work scheduling meeting
  • Responsible for RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) or FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) on existing equipment and all new equipment
  • Assists in the development of long-range asset management schedules and budgets
  • Develops, recommends, and implements strategies for improving the reliability of the manufacturing processes
  • Reviews predictive maintenance activities, recommends changes to the type of monitoring, routes, frequency, and equipment monitored
  • Has a thorough understanding of the Potential-Failure Curve and relationship to setting maintenance activity frequencies
  • Maintains or monitors equipment downtime database with focus on monitoring unscheduled downtime on key process equipment
  • Monitors and performs trending and analysis of all PdM (Predictive Maintenance), PM (Preventive Maintenance) and CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) data
  • Communicates the key asset management performance indicators as well as the company’s KPIs (Key Process Indicators)
  • Monitors the execution and effectiveness of lubrication programs
  • Facilitates RCFA Teams
  • Performs reliability reviews of each modification or design change
  • Generates downtime analysis reports and performs Pareto Analysis on results


Skill/Experience Requirements:


Competencies/Skills:


  • Excellent administrative and analytical skills
  • Must possess a demonstrated high degree of tact in dealing with both plant staff and maintenance personnel
  • Good oral/written communication skills


Knowledge:


  • Working knowledge of reliability tools
  • Computer Literate
  • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques.


Education:


  • High School diploma or equivalent – minimum
  • Technical 2 or 4 year degree - preferred


Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance position
  • Minimum of 2 years maintenance supervision – desired


Travel Requirements, if any (please indicate percentage):


Up to 75% during first six months in position. After first six months travel will be minimal other than minor travel to other plants and training seminars / conferences
