In addition to its ongoing pursuits in real estate development and construction, AG has expanded its holdings to include assets in the sports & entertainment, renewable energy, aquaculture, tourist attractions, restaurants, and food & beverage industries.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Operations is responsible for the safe execution of the day-to-day crane business: ordering materials, scheduling personnel, arranging trucking and logistics, reviewing and preparing documentation and ensuring safe work procedures.The Director is also required to be on work sites or in the crane yard preparing or inspecting equipment for service. Knowledge and experience with Raimondi cranes is helpful but not essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned from time to time)
- Manage personnel, including hiring, training, performance managing and on-boarding, to ensure that the Company’s needs and requirements are adhered to.
- Provides leadership for the maintenance planning and execution of crane operations, including coordinating the activities of various groups to maximize the efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and resources to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of all equipment and assets.
- Drive a performance management culture within the team ensuring that staff meet their targets in line with the business needs.
- Positively advance agreed upon initiatives, propose new initiatives and adopt a sense of continuous improvement.
- Ensure that the requirements of the working shift are fully met in an efficient and safe manner in accordance with safety regulations and health and safety policies.
- Ensure safe working practices are adhered to and promote safety in all aspects of the maintenance process.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- An excellent manager of people with well-formed motivational skills, including solid negotiation, influencing, change management and labour relations skills.
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership to quality standards/ initiatives.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a manager or Supervisor in a fast moving Maintenance or Engineering environment
- Proven commitment, reliable work history and flexibility to meet requirements of a fast-paced operation.
- Experience working in a safety-focused environment with excellent understanding of Health and Safety legislation and the ability to effectively communicate these values to the workforce.
- Fluency in English
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, computerized maintenance management systems and industrial control software.
- Self-starter with a positive, hands-on approach and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment as part of a team to meet operational and engineering needs/deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, including the ability to work with all departments and levels.
- Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines.
A relocation allowance and housing can be provided for candidates currently residing outside of the greater Vancouver region.
