Director of Operations | Fire Protection and Life Safety
Attention. This is an on-site role with the office near the Vaughan-Woodbridge area.
Our Client is a Canadian-owned and operated Fire & Security Protection | Detection | Safety company since 1988. They have over 30 years of Industry experience with a wide range of serviced sectors from commercial to industrial and to residential.
They service all models and manufacturers from service to installations, upgrades to replacements. They are committed to the quality of all projects large or small.

· Fire Hydrants
Fire Alarm – Inspection, service and maintenance of all types and models of Fire alarm emergency communication and evacuation systems, exit & emergency lighting, extinguishers, CO2 systems.
Communication & Voice communication – Installation & service of Intercom systems, voice entry, telephone entry & emergency telephones.
Sprinkler – Inspection, service, and maintenance of suppression systems & hydrants.
Security – Installation and service of CCTV, Security system, Card access systems, door controllers, strikes and locks and more; for all needs.
24/7 Monitoring – 24/7 ULC listed monitoring, Fire Alarm, Elevator, Security, and Sprinklers.
Their technicians are connected to their online digital service which allows for faster and more reliable dispatch times, digital work orders and reports. Real-time GPS tracking allows them to dispatch their service technicians fast and efficiently.
The Director of Operations (DOO) is the right hand of the thriving President. With your experience, motivation, and expertise, you’ll be able to lead your team of high-performing professionals to be efficient, productive, and effective. The ideal candidate has extensive experience within the industry, perhaps having worked their way up through the ranks to your role as an executive. Our client believes this trajectory helps develop a unique mix of business and management expertise, plus proficiency with the practices, policies, and procedures of the fire and life safety industry. They have their eye out for a DOO with strong leadership skills and the ability to approach business from a creative point of view.
Objectives of this Role
- Adhere to company, provincial and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary
- Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning
- Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
- Collaborate with the President in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs
- Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention while maintaining a team environment where staff feels proud to represent the company.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Develop actionable business strategies and plans that align with short-term and long-term objectives development with the President.
- Monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting.
- Directly oversee HR and accounting, and partner with the President on sales management to budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth and targets over the near term.
- Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the company achieves investor targets relative to growth and profitability.
- Analyze and provide feedback on staffing issues and recommendations as well as salary decisions for all employees.
- Analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in executive leadership positions
- Good interpersonal skills with staff and customers
- Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a related field
- Excellent organizational skills & good work ethic
- A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
- Detailed oriented and able to prioritize work, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
- Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues
- Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Systems (strongly preferred)
- International business experience
- Master’s Degree in Business or a related Field
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and Ontario Electrical Codes
Logistics, Language, and Work Stat
- Candidates must be willing to relocate to Ontario (GTA) if outside of the province;
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be willing to commute to work (on-site)
- Eligible to work in Canada without restrictions
