Summary


The Director, Business Development collaborates with key internal stakeholders in developing and supporting business development strategies which include but is not limited to pricing and document management strategies. In addition, in collaboration with the pursuit team, participates in negotiations and contributes to winning, retaining and expanding businesses.


Key Duties & Responsibilities


  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and external contacts to support business development pursuits and marketing initiatives.
  • Creates and monitors business development targets for internal business units. Provides ongoing reports and works with internal stakeholders to remediate gaps to target.
  • Develops and maintains current industry knowledge and trends as well as competitive landscape for all relevant pursuits. Maintains a competitive assessment of the marketplace that provides detailed recommendations for business development, marketing and communication, and oversees the implementation of the competitive recommendations.
  • Works with Finance team to conduct competitive/benchmarking, financial and risks analyses and develop effective pricing strategies and recommendations. Articulates rationale, risks and mitigation strategies to project proposal team members.
  • In collaboration with the pursuit team, reviews RFP requirements and engages prospective and existing clients in discussions to understand factors such as client needs, business strategy/objectives, value perception, business and value drivers. Develops appropriate strategy which responds to these factors. In collaboration with the pursuit team, develops an effective proposal development strategy.
  • Post pursuits, conducts review of strategies and approaches to identify areas for improvement.
  • Supports the creation and execution of a targeted business development approach to acquire new businesses, penetrate new markets as well as expand existing client service delivery scope.
  • Identifies opportunities for standardization of factors such as pricing, approach, operations etc. for vertical markets, where possible.
  • Manages the document development and annual document updates according to the output specifications.
  • Develops RFQ strategies for all pursuits to secure new businesses and expand existing service scope. Collaborates with key stakeholders in the development of solutions and strategies to ensure optimal approach.
  • Contributes to the development and execution strategy to ensure business growth and profitability
  • Participates in negotiations and contributes to winning new or renewing businesses and/or expanding existing service scope.
  • Elevates the visibility of the organization and thought leadership with involvement in the application of industry awards and speaking engagements on behalf of BGIS.
  • In collaboration with the pursuit team, develops appropriate solutions that addresses the clients’ needs and business strategy/objectives and takes into consideration the clients’ business and value drivers, as well as perceived value of the proposed solution(s).

  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of current knowledge of all relevant vertical markets, their competitive landscapes and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with lines of business to leverage case studies for the purpose of promoting thought leadership.

  • University graduation or professional certification (e.g. P. Eng, CMA, CGA or equivalent courses)
  • Strategic thinking and planning as well as tactical implementation abilities
  • Strategic business development and execution abilities.

  • Strong and proven analytical abilities.
