About Purpose Forward
We are a national non-profit that was founded in February 2021 with a mission to activate operational capacity throughout the grassroots social purpose sector. Currently, we do this through ongoing back-office support (finance, HR, payroll, basic IT), consulting services, training, and research. We have staff and volunteers based from BC to Halifax with much of the country in-between represented. Our team is fully distributed and has been remote since inception.
Objective
You will work at the intersection of our people, processes, and systems. We use a variety of financial, CRM, and similar systems internally and with our non-profit clients. With your exceptional data management skills, strong communication, and attention to deal, you will be accountable for ensuring data quality across applications. Working closely with the CEO, the Data and Operations Specialist will be central to our achieving our mission of helping the grassroots social purpose sector move their missions forward.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of this role will vary as the organization evolves, making adaptability a core competency for the incumbent to possess. The primary focus areas for this position are:
1.Data Management
a.Accountable for ensuring data in accounting, payroll, HR, CRM, and operational systems is properly recorded, largely through prebuilt integrations.
b.Monitor data quality issues and report results, along with continuous improvement strategies.
c.Using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, and PowerApps, you will manipulate data to constantly automate routine processes and improve analytical capacity.
d.There will be some manual data entry required, but it is limited with the goal of automating these steps where practical.
2.Business Process
a.Lead the development of a business process documentation strategy for internal continuity and training purposes.
b.Document and store business process materials in accordance with the strategy.
c.Develop training guides and knowledge bases for services we support broadly.
d.Identify improvement opportunities and work with CEO and other PF staff to implement for clients.
3.Operations & Project Management
a.Lead the coordination of internal operations between our 4 staff to ensure task and project alignment.
b.Track and document ongoing projects and deadlines for clients and internally.
c.Using planning or project management software, monitor and report on project status and outcomes.
4.Customer Service
a.Respond to requests from clients and peers in a timely and professional manner.
b.Act as primary point of contact for some types of client requests, ensuring the client needs are met to their satisfaction.
c.Work directly with clients and internal stakeholders to develop ticketing processes, immediate feedback loops, and other client-centric user enhancements.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate good judgement, critical thinking skills, technical acumen, and ability to communicate effectively. You will have advanced MS Excel skills and a working knowledge of PowerBI, Tableau, or a program language. Experience with PowerAutomate, SharePoint Online, PowerApps, and other data/automation focused apps in the Microsoft 365 environment are considered an asset. A desire to learn new applications and operate on the cutting edge of the for-purpose sector will be key to success. Your expertise leading others through technical changes will ensure you can hit the ground running.
