The BC & Yukon branch of Canadian Parents for French is searching for aData Specialist. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate with an interest in collating, examining, and publishing student enrolment statistics and trends related to French second language education in British Columbia and the Yukon.

About the project:
For two decades, the BC & Yukon branch of Canadian Parents for French has been tracking enrolment in French second language programs in school districts throughout British Columbia and the Yukon. This important initiative allows stakeholders to identify trends and make informed decisions about the provision of educational programs.

About the role:
TheData Specialist’s responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:
·Downloading French-second-language student enrolment statistics from the BC and Yukon governments to assist targeted stakeholders make informed decisions about the provision of French second language educational programs in British Columbia and the Yukon.
·Analyzing, calculating, and publishing student enrolment statistics and trends.
·Liaising with individual school districts to fill any identified gaps in numbers.
·Preparing a report including an 'Executive Summary', including graphs and charts.
·Helping prepare media releases to share the results.
·Assisting with researching and compiling data for our newsletters.
·Compiling a list of FI programs across BC & Yukon.
About You:
·A hands-on self-starter who exhibits a proactive mindset with excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
·Relationship-building and influencing skills, and the ability to effectively manage through change and growth.
·Strategic thinker and creative problem solver who thrives in environments that require flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to change.
·Strongorganizational skills,able to take initiative, manage deadlines and work well independently and within a team.
·Experience connecting withstakeholdergroups,and ability to build rapport and credibility with staff and volunteers.
What you bring:
·Educational background in Public Policy, Statistics, Research Methodology, Political Science, Education, or other related field is an asset;
·Conventional media outreach and engagement experience.
·High proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
·Excellent written communication skills.
·Experience drafting reports including Executive Summaries.
·Autonomous, positive disposition, well organized, & hard working.
·Ability to speak both French and English is an asset but not required.
What’s in it for you:
·This is a contract position, with a total compensation of $5,000. $2,500 will be paid in advance at the start of the contract, and the remaining $2,500 will be paid at the completion of the contract.
·As an independent contractor, no taxes, CPP, EI, or other amounts will be deducted from your pay, and you will be responsible to remit these amounts in your taxes.
·A business number is preferred but not required.
·Time management is up to the contractor; all work should be completed by August 31, 2023.
