What You’ll Do
The Controller is responsible for the establishment of financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems and shall be responsible for the supervision of general accounting, accounts receivable, collection, payroll, and benefits for the company.
- Provide periodic operating reports, which provide analyses of progress in achieving financial objectives and rationale for variances as well as prepares leading indicator reports along with action plans for corrective action.
- Prepare corporate and departmental margin reports and departmental labour reports
- Support the senior leadership and management team in the implementation of operational redesign initiatives in developing recommendations for key performance indicators and implementing ongoing monitoring and reporting processes.
- Offer strong experience in process improvements to streamline routine processes in order to address company scalability
- Oversee the total rewards program focusing on benefit management
- Processes and invoices to check for inaccuracies such as timekeeping, various third party contracts and purchased services; assists managers with the review of financial reporting reports by running reports and identifying key information.
- Provide financial expertise/support to senior leadership
- Manage tech stack access and ensure all security requirements are met
What You’ll Bring:
- Adaptability to respond quickly to a shifting reality and adjust initiatives and priorities accordingly
- Resourceful - able to source the best suppliers for operation supplies and capex projects
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting/finance/information technology.
- Interpersonal skills – must communicate with both executives and staff employees in order to create and administer policy
- Strong track record in creating reports to facilitate effective decision-making and handling large data sets.
- Minimum 5 years experience as Staff Accountant or Controller in the hospitality industry
- Entrepreneurial mindset - passion for building the infrastructure
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong personal and professional judgment, which are invaluable skills for a role that makes hiring decisions as well as in finding the best solution to organizational dilemmas
- Analytical - interpret data statistics and make improvement accordingly
- Demonstrated excellence in analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
- Organizational skills and the flexibility to jump from priority to priority, which are essential to a role that juggles a variety of functions and projects
- Self starter - must be able to operate independently and be comfortable with minimal hands-on instructions
