Controller Jobs

Our client is looking for a Controller to join their growing team. This position will play a key role within the accounting and finance function, including developing and maintaining accounting and finance best practices, leading a diverse team of accounting professionals, prepare accurate and timely financial statements for the organization.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Able to provide insight and analysis for senior leadership in discussing variances in current period results.
• Collaborate and partner effectively with other disciplines within the organization, including operations, human resources, and payroll.
• Ensure compliance with all financial, corporate, and government requirements for all jurisdictions are met.
• Drive operational excellence through streamlined processes, efficiencies, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, internal and external reporting and monitoring all key performance metrics.
• Provide professional and technical leadership, mentorship, development and performance management to the team.
• Monthly review of all journal entries and account reconciliations
• Oversees all financial systems to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Coordinate and lead annual audit, prepare organizational audit files and financials ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
• Maintain internal controls and delegation of authority to ensure safe keeping of assets.

Key Qualifications Include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• Public accounting and industry experience considered an asset.
• Excellent communicator, with the ability to present technical information to all levels of the organization.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience in multi-faceted, fast-paced organization with experience ideally within the construction industry.
• Experience in a construction business with project/job costing experience.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required.
