Overview Of The Role


Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Corporate Accounting, the Corporate Controller will lead the consolidation and the corporate accounting teams which together comprise 8 people. The Corporate Controller will primarily be responsible for the monthly internal consolidated financial information circulated to the Executive Team and Board of Directors (P&L, Statements of Financial Position, Changes in Shareholders’ Equity and, Cash Flows) and will contribute to the preparation of interim and annual consolidated financial statements which are filed publicly. The Corporate Controller will also be responsible for ensuring that the corporate accounts are maintained and that annual financial statements are produced for entities in the corporate organizational chart as required by either jurisdiction specific regulations or for the preparation of tax returns. The Corporate Controller will collaborate with other corporate accounting functions which include the Financial Planning and Analysis and Accounting Standards (IFRS) and Policies teams, as well as with divisional finance teams and other corporate functions such as tax and treasury.


How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:


  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in the use of our ERP system (SAP) and other automation tools (such as Workiva) used as well as any other process improvements;
  • Respond to information requests from the external auditors in the context of the annual audit and quarterly review and also any internal requests which may be requested from time to time by other corporate functions.
  • Coaching and leadership of the consolidation and corporate accounting teams;
  • Responsible for the preparation of the annual consolidated budget and participate in various activities in connection with the budgeting process such as divisional corporate recharges;
  • Coordinate and review the financial information required for the annual Management Information Circular
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements for the various legal entities comprised in the consolidated group;
  • Responsible for the monthly internal consolidated financial information and significant contribution to the preparation of interim and annual consolidated financial statements which are filed publicly.
  • Responsible for maintaining a strong internal controls environment around the accounting, consolidation and disclosure activities;


You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have the Following Qualifications:


  • Adaptive to change and able to work under time constraints in a dynamic;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application of IFRS in multi-currency and consolidation environment;
  • Experience with financial and consolidation systems is considered an asset i.e. SAP and Workiva
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a management level position including leading and coaching other accounting professionals;
  • Effective communication skills, both in English and French are essential;
  • Hold a professional accounting designation (CPA);
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a controller or assistant controller position;
  • Excellent professional judgement, analytical capabilities and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships.
