As a Construction Industry Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in our construction projects' financial management and reporting. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of financial data, perform financial analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain the financial health of the projects.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Data Management: Manage, analyze, and reconcile financial data related to construction projects, including but not limited to budgets, expenses, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting and financial management functions, and contribute to the implementation of enhanced procedures.
- Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary financial data and documentation as required.
- Cost Control and Analysis: Monitor project costs, compare actual expenditures against budgets, and identify areas for cost optimization. Prepare comprehensive cost reports for project managers and executives to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other teams to gather financial data, analyze project performance, and contribute to strategic planning for future projects.
- Excel Expertise: Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in Excel to handle complex financial models, cost estimations, and project budgets. Use Excel functions, formulas, and macros to streamline processes and enhance data accuracy.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and relevant regulations in all financial activities.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, specifically tailored to the construction/build industry.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as an Accountant in the construction industry is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, cost control, and financial analysis.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional expertise in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create advanced financial models and reports.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in using accounting software Jonas and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems related to construction/build industry accounting.
