Position Details

The Intermediate Accountant, under the direction of the Manager Accounting, is focused on preparing and assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year end activities. This role will be responsible for completing various accounting duties including journal entries, reconciliations and accruals.

What You Will Do

• Oversee AR Broker Bill Team Lead and Broker bill collections
• Oversee and work closely with AP role in processing and issuing of payments
• Ensuring accuracy of data, regulatory compliance and performance measurement
• Providing support regarding strategic management planning and implementation including presenting and analyzing of internal controls
• Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, audits, and any other quarterly/annual reporting requirements
• Assisting with monthly, quarterly and year end General accounting and reporting
• Assisting in general ledger, system processes and testing for automation
• Oversee and take charge of all cheque printings related to Claims from Finance
• Assisting in monthly Fixed assets and Prepaid Schedules
• Coordinating with Human Resources, responsible for payroll related entries and reconciliations
• Preparing monthly intercompany reconciliations, investigations and addressing any differences
• Oversee and take charge of depositing all cheques from Finance and co ordinate for monthly reporting and bank recs
• Assisting Senior Accountants in reconciling and utilizing system knowledge skills
• Preparing monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and adjusting entries on the balance sheet and income statement accounts including clearing accounts
• Preparing working papers for auditors review, discussing any variances and providing explanations in addition to assisting the Accounting Manager on year-end audit functions

Who You Are

• Strong decision making and problem solving skills coupled with excellent communication and time management skills
• Excellent computer knowledge and familiarity with MS Office, Word and Excel
• University degree/College diploma in Accounting or Business related discipline
• Familiarity with general ledger systems
• Previous work experience in an insurance industry, preferred
• Three years experience in similar role is required
• Professional designation, CPA preferred or in process of obtaining
