Program Support and Safety Worker - On Call

Position may lead full-time hours.

:On call position with room to advance to full time. Program Support and Safety Worker contributes to the Mission of Ark Aid Street Mission Inc., which identifies that in God’s love, we will facilitate opportunities for people to experience love, healing and liberation, by providing services to our community and building relationships with each individual.

Responsibilities:

Program Support and Safety Worker has the following responsibilities and duties:

• Hourly check of exterior grounds to ensure it is kept in proper condition(cleaning any and all garbage, making sure community is not camping or causing disturbances on site
• Help to keep the facility clean and safe for staff and community members
• Assist the staff in any programs that may be run in the space (home bus, id clinic etc.)
• Assist hospitality with any other duties they may deem necessary (inventory etc.)
• Use de-escalation techniques to deal with any individuals who seem to be acting out or getting aggressive(training to be provided)
• Communicate with community members and staff to help with any needs the community may have(pointing members to proper staff member to get the help they need
• Deal with any emergency situations that may arise inside the building or on the church property (naloxone training to be provided)
• Communicate and act in accordance with the supervisor and other members of the staff (help with cleanup of space and removal of members not in compliance

Requirements

Program Support and Safety Worker should have the following skills, education and experience:

• 6 months minimum experience working with homeless/addictions.
• Understanding of other partner organizations that deal with homelessness, addiction, legal, medical etc.
• Understanding of de-escalation, harm reduction and trauma informed care
• Related educational background is an asset but not necessary
• Current First Aid/CPR
• Safe Food Handler’s certificate preferred.
• Good communication skills a must
• Criminal record check (VSC) completed

Compensation:

Ark Aid Street Mission Inc. will provide the following compensation:

• EFAP benefits
• Salary/Hourly: $17.86-$21.34 per hour, up to 37.5 hours per week
