Our Client:

Our client provides consulting services in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, environmental and hydrogeology for a range of public and private sector clients in Ontario, Canada. They provide expertise in these disciplines to a wide range of projects such as planning, design, and construction of pipelines, tunnels, pump stations, municipal buildings, roads, bridges, slope and landslide management, low and high rise as well as commercial buildings, light rail systems, dams and reservoirs, water and wastewater treatment facilities, outfalls, retaining walls, embankments, airports, and port facilities.

Position Overview:

The Project Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial management throughout project lifecycles. They handle project setup, maintain essential documentation, and process project changes. Additionally, the Project Accountant prepares invoices, conducts audits, and generates vital project reports. Their contributions support efficient financial operations and project success.

What you will achieve in this role:

Project Setup and Maintaining Documents

• Maintain project-related documents, including contracts, change orders, insurance certificates etc.
• Review the project contract, liaise with the project stakeholders, and set up the projects in the system accurately.
• Closeout project accounts promptly upon project completion.
• Review and process project changes and ensure they are accurately reflected in the system.

Project Invoicing

• Ensure steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices on time.
• Resolve any invoice disputes with the client on time.
• Perform ad-hoc reporting requests, as required.
• Ensure sub-consultants ' invoices are entered into the system and prepare monthly accrual for accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly project reporting and analysis on project KPIs (revenue, gross margin, multiplier, utilization, cash flow & backlog etc.)
• Project Auditing and Reporting
• Ensure accounts receivable and work in progress are current and follow up on any overdue or outstanding amounts.
• Meet with the project managers and prepare the client invoices according to the project billing terms.
• Prepare pre-billing reports for project managers for their review.

System and Training

• Contribute to team process improvement initiatives.
• Train project managers on the system and set up their system dashboards.

What you must bring to this role:

• 2-5 years experience as a project accountant is a must.
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, or similar.
• Experience in Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint application is preferred.
