Job Summary:

This person will develop and lead B2B initiatives within the Canadian Cannabis market for Tilray Brands. This role will focus on sourcing, negotiating, and on-boarding Licensed Producer customers from both a wholesale cannabis biomass (in all forms) as well as offer co-manufacturing for final and semi-finished cannabis products to both Licensed Producers as well as on behalf of Cannabis Brands.


Working with customers and multiple cross-functional teams at Tilray, the candidate will help drive sales of existing items for co-manufacturing partners as well as build the pipeline of new SKUS to add to customers’ portfolios, in addition to contract flower grow within Tilray’s facilities. The candidate will help build and implement processes and business reporting for this portfolio of business, working both internally and with customers to gain alignment.


The candidate will be responsible for a deep understanding of the national and provincial cannabis regulations, best in class interpersonal skills, budget management, and building profitable business cases for all business deals. This role will report to the Director of Business Development.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with the BI (Business Intelligence) team and coordinators for the recreational and medical sales teams about existing and new customers, providing all relevant product details to ensure products are submitted on-time to respective provincial cannabis boards
  • Work with outside agencies for imaging, GS1 registration, and other product setup tasks, in tandem with other internal resources
  • Regularly engaging with existing clients to influence and add/modify/discontinue products to the existing product portfolio Tilray manufactures for them with the goal of highest sales and margin per item and avoiding unnecessary manufacturing and procurement complexity.
  • Assisting the Director of Businesses Development on high-level negotiation and prospecting new customers for both wholesale and co-manufacturing cannabis business.
  • Working with Tilray Project Management colleagues, act as the co-manufacturing business SME (Subject-Matter-Expert) to ensure a smooth flow of information between Tilray and customers (Stakeholder management)
  • Monitor and measure co-manufactured product launch execution and effectiveness; provide post-mortem analysis and recommendations on both sales and revenue improvement
  • Lead the day-to-day management and interface with existing B2B customers
  • Engaging in collaborative forecasting with customers and internal Tilray teams, budget-building and expense management for the Business Development team.
  • Monitor, collect insights and report competitive Licensed Producer actions in the cannabis grow and co-manufacturing space to help pivot and change plans where applicable
  • Working with internal stakeholders including manufacturing, legal, procurement, finance, and others to build customer LOI (Letters-of-Intent) as well as assisting in business-related questions related to final customer supplier agreements.


Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years experience in Sales and/or Marketing
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time each month
  • Preference in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Pharmaceuticals manufacturing or Cannabis industries is an asset
  • Proven experience in measuring product launch success and ROI
  • Solutions oriented thinker who views challenges as opportunities
  • Ability to work independently and a fast-learner
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building; navigating conflict and difficult customers.
  • Experience in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and basic Microsoft office programs
  • Ability to be agile and deal with new regulations, as well as work with Project Management teams.
  • Experience engaging with customers is an asset
  • Strong experience with retail math and financials
  • Proven experience sourcing and negotiating with procurement teams and outside vendors/suppliers
  • Curiosity to discover ways of collecting and translating consumer data into actionable decisions that directly influence the products we launch and partners we engage with
  • Strong experience in managing and building budgets
  • Proactive, problem solving and solution oriented individual
