Job Description

On behalf of our client, The STORY Group is recruiting for a Business Development Manager role. The ideal candidate will work closely with the President to drive business growth and expand operations in Canada and international markets (excluding the US). This individual will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients, identifying new business opportunities, and executing strategic initiatives to drive revenue growth.


KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel internationally (1-2 times a year) to meet with clients, explore new markets, and build relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, distribution agreements, and sales channels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and product development, to ensure seamless execution of business initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to penetrate new markets and expand customer base.
  • Collaborate with the President to develop and implement business development strategies to expand company presence in Canada and international markets.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Conduct market research to identify market trends, competitor analysis, and potential areas for business growth.
  • Monitor industry developments and proactively identify opportunities to stay ahead of the competition.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with a proven ability to close deals and secure profitable partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects, while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • 5-7 years of experience in business development, preferably in the retail or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
  • Experience with big box retailers and other retail channels.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Energetic, ambitious, and self-motivated individual with a hunger for success.
