Job Description

We are currently seeking aResult oriented Property Manager,to join our team. The successful candidate will be an organizational leader who takes satisfaction in creating and maintaining strong financial reports, has an unflappable demeanor, excellent strength of character, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder needs. The Manager, will have primary day-to-day responsibility for all property-related accounting functions for nine properties, comprising ten commercial leases and up to 200 residential units.The focus of the role is on the operating portfolio of properties and this role is expected to become the primary go-to contact for all things property accounting. Reporting to the Vice President, Accounting & Administration, your responsibilities will include:


  • Correspond with our 3rd party property managers, CRA, our financial institutions, and external resources as needed.
  • Assist external accountants with preparation of consolidated year-end audited financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages as needed for our Property Operations Committee, staff, and partners.
  • Support growth of property operations division, including coordinating the integration of new properties into the accounting workflow.
  • Coordination and oversight of part-time bookkeepers.
  • Special projects as required.
  • All aspects of property accounting including AR/AP, bank, loan schedules, monthly reports, and GST filings as applicable. Support and manage improvement of policies and procedures for property accounting.


Qualities

  • Extremely systems-oriented – enjoys creating replicable forms and methods. Strong aptitude and interest in technology-based solutions.
  • Thrives in an autonomous work environment and has the foresight to bring others in as needed.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Curious, with a solutions-oriented approach to problems and the ability to focus on the details while keeping an eye on the bigger picture. Enjoys puzzles and is a life-long learner.
  • Strong communications and networking skills


Qualifications/Experience

  • Team leadership experience would be an asset.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Arcori, Yardi, and/or non-profit housing would be an asset.
  • Work experience that demonstrates the above qualities and skills; 5 years of overall professional experience with a minimum of 5 years direct experience in property accounting (primarily residential property accounting, but commercial property accounting an asset).
