Assistant Plant Operator Jobs

Our client, Comcor Environmental Limited is a growing company in Ontario that is expanding in the landfill gas and biogas industry with many new and exciting opportunities. We are seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Plant Operator based in Niagara Falls to help with the operation and maintenance of a landfill gas fueled co-gen power plant and RNG facility. Responsibilities involve performing a variety of duties including operating and monitoring plant equipment and general plant maintenance.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Participate in more complex equipment overhauls.
• Close work orders and document work completed using the plant Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect potential failures and eliminate unplanned downtime.
• Perform various routine and non-routine preventative maintenance tasks and repair on equipment as issues arise.
• Maintain daily plant logs and records.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Equipment troubleshooting and restarting after unscheduled shutdowns/trips.
• Monitor plant systems including visual inspection of plant equipment.

Job Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Experience with gas fired engines or gas compression equipment is an asset.
• At least 5 years prior experience in facility operation and maintenance is required.
• Strong administrative skills, mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Self-starter who is able to work independently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
• Experience with SCADA systems

Role Details:

• The position is based in Niagara Falls but will include some minor travel mostly within Southern Ontario as required.
• Rotating shift work will be required (bi-weekly rotation between day and afternoon shifts)
• On-call work in the Niagara area is required (approximately every 5 weeks)
