Applications Development Manager

$120-150K

We are looking to hire an Applications Development Manager who will be responsible for managing onshore and offshore development teams, their deliverables, and capabilities across various project streams.

Responsibilities:


People Management, Mentoring and coaching:

• Recruit and manage the onboarding of new Development team members.

• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to development team members.

Design and develop high quality and high performing solutions:

• Design and develop solutions as per requirements and in alignment to the application and architecture roadmap.

• Contributes to selection of the software development approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

• Emphasis on writing simple and clean code with enhanced user experience mindset.

Support, Maintenance and Continuous improvement (Operations management):

• Responds to and anticipates customer needs in a timely professional, helpful, and courteous manner, and clearly shows their perspectives are valued.

• Maintain continuous, open, and consistent communication with others and builds on successful initiatives to gain support for ideas.

• Maintain learnings register and ensure learnings are shared across the development and wider teams.

• Maintain and monitor the performance measurements, statistics and system logs.

• Defines strategies for system optimizations

• Streamlining of operational processes

• Be on roster for Afterhours support of nightly jobs.


Risk and Compliance:

• Ownership of IT audits, Compliance issues, breaches and Applications Incident activities and remediation tasks.

• Lead reviews of IT audit processes and share the outcomes of the reviews with the Senior management.

Adherence to Standards and Frameworks:

• Identification, Implementation and adoption of new tools, frameworks, and guidelines.

• Ensure development practices and standards are implemented, adhered to, reviewed, and improved continuously.

• Identification, Implementation and reporting of Metrics to improve the code quality and team productivity.


Technical Documentation:

• Ensure solutions are documented by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.

• Create and share in-depth knowledge of systems using knowledge sharing sessions, documentation etc.


Qualifications:

• Experience in managing and implementing operational excellence across Application development teams.

• Experience from companies with call centre environments is highly preferred, and from Insurance or Financial Service would be an additional asset

• Strong understanding and adherence to SDLC processes, SOLID principles, OOPs and/or design patterns on new development / maintenance projects.

• 7+ years in leading and managing software development team members.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on complex SQL and .NET applications/systems.

• Experience in developing documentation & handling technical debt.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop Agile teams with both technical and soft skills.

• Proven record of implementing automated unit tests.

• Drive for continuous improvement.

• Experience in Azure Devops best practices
