Ward Aide (Perianesthesia Care Unit)

Overview

Within the Recovery Room, the Ward Aide is accountable for the delivery of support services that promote patient focused care. The Ward Aide is responsible for selected duties as they relate to the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment and for selected duties as they relate to patient care. The Ward Aide is also responsible for specific equipment and supplies as they relate to critical care.

EDUCATION

• Grade 12 or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Constant standing/walking
• Ability to maintain patience, compassion and a courteous manner in all relationships with patients, family and staff.
• Must be willing to work in all areas of the health service (skills & abilities considered).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, public and staff.
• Must speak and write English fluently.
• Demonstrated physical capability to perform duties and carry out responsibilities.
• All employees of MGH are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by MGH.
• Bending and twisting frequent
• All employees of Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) (formerly Toronto East General Hospital) agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.
• Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment
• Frequent forward reaching waist to shoulder level
• Good work and attendance record required.
• Lift and handle 75 pounds
