Proficient computer and keyboarding skills combined with the knowledge of medical terminology and training in Order Entry

Effective interpersonal and communication skills combined with good problem solving skills when dealing with patients, visitors, families and other hospital staff

Must have experience with Meditech and Sunrise programs and documentation

Assists with documentation and communication related to patient admission, care processes, and post-discharge follow-up

The following qualifications are required for the job:

•Previous related experience of at least 2 years with older clients preferred.

•Strong interpersonal, communication, Tamil language (essential), organizational, and clinical skills

•Organized and manages time efficiently.

The Nursing aide is responsible to perform the following tasks:

•Performs light housekeeping duties (e.g. tidy room, clean closets, hang clothing).

Any previous related experience or related education would be an asset

Knowledge of infection control procedures an asset

Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with patients/clients, hospital staff, public and referral sources

Current BCLS within two years of hire

Relevant first aid, first responder training i.e. St. John Ambulance course, HS lifeguard certificate, an asset

Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Knowledge of nursing equipment including sterilization techniques and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent required

Current BCLS or completion within 2 years of hire

Relevant first aid, first responder training i.e. St. John Ambulance course, HS lifeguard certificate, an asset

Liaises with internal departments and external healthcare facilities to book/cancel tests, appointments, internal patient transfer, external patient transport/escort, etc, as required.

Transcribes and enters physician orders including medication, lab and imaging orders into appropriate system.

Enters data including appointment requests, menu/diet requests, patient transfer and discharge documentation.

Notifies appropriate personnel of patient movement, test results, appointments and other patient information in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensures patient charts are sent to Health Records with all accurate and required patient information.

Updates WHMIS/MDS binders/information sheets as required.

Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Perform a variety of cleaning duties such as sweeping, damp mopping, scrubbing, polishing floors, vacuuming carpets and dusting and polishing furniture.

Wash walls, windows and ceilings using a variety of tools such as brooms, mops, cloths.

Operate equipment such as vacuums and use cleaning solutions/deodorizers.

Minimum of two years recent pediatric experience required.

Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.

Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable

Include and engage families in the student's education.

One year of related experience in school

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Ensuring that the areas and Supply carts are stocked, replacing linen, isolation supplies, etc.
