This newly created role is an incredible opportunity to have significant, transformational impact for the global business. The Vice President, Global Colleague Communications reports directly to Manulife’s Global Chief Communications Officer, oversees a high- performing team responsible for all corporate internal communications activities, and provides internal communications counsel and support for the executive management team. The critical focus areas of the role include developing a comprehensive internal communications service to deliver Manulife’s strategic messages and provide all colleagues with regular, meaningful, and consistent communication that enables that to be exemplary brand ambassadors.


Key Accountabilities


  • Develops and leads internal communications strategy directly linked to overarching strategic direction of the company, with a focus on the goals and objectives of the company’s businesses and shared service areas, as well as key enterprise enablers like our mission and values.
  • Partners and collaborates closely with External Communications, as well as Marketing, Human Resources, and Legal.
  • Convenes and influences a global network of communicators to align and scale colleague focused communications.
  • Coaches and guides team for performance and developmental success.
  • In partnership with Events, Employee Experience, DEI, and Culture teams, develops colleague engagement activities and initiatives that foster a strong sense of culture, belonging, and wellbeing.
  • Directs the Global Colleagues Communications team to ensure accountabilities and goals are met in a timely and service-related manner. Makes final decisions on communication related matters Manulife-wide and ensures effective achievement of stated objectives.
  • Oversees conception and execution of high-quality multimedia content and its dissemination strategically across internal and external colleague focused channels.
  • Creates long-term planning process for systematically adopting best practices and enhancing the value and impact of internal communications efforts.
  • Leads evaluations to determine the effectiveness of the existing processes through analysis and surveys and innovates improvements incorporating external and staff feedback and insights.
  • Counsels, advises, and guides senior executives on internal communications strategies and practices and build strong support for and participation in key internal communications activities.


Pivotal Experience And Expertise


  • Communications Leadership: Deep experience cultivating, developing, and leading a multi-faceted communications function with solid knowledge and exposure of highly regulated or financial services business.
  • Global mindset: Experience in senior leadership within a global matrix organization. Experience leading both direct and indirect / matrixed teams that are culturally and geographically diverse.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a focus on compelling storytelling and measurable results. A collaborative, transparent leader who can communicate a vision and engage individuals to work towards shared objectives. This role requires a highly visible individual who can collaborate across the company and with key external stakeholders, leveraging relationships and expertise to build trust, credibility, and successful partnerships inside and outside the company.
  • Customer and Digital Savvy: Experience crafting communications in a fast moving, consumer-focused organization. Strong understanding of digital channels and media for communications and experience guiding an organization through significant digital transformation.
  • Executive Communication/Stakeholder Management: Experience communicating with and gaining buy-in from a broad range of stakeholders, and experience collaborating and working closely with stakeholders to achieve business goals.

Qualifications


  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in leadership experience in an executive strategy role.
  • A proven track record of liaising with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Sound knowledge of emerging technology and business trends.
  • Promote innovation and creative thinking to stimulate new product and service market knowledge.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple complex projects concurrently and establish priorities.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with varying audiences in a matrixed, geographically dispersed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an advanced degree or certifications a plus.
  • Possess the ability to move forward decisively and promptly on projects while at the same time gaining the needed support, buy-in, consensus, and perspectives at all levels in the organization that will lead to widespread stakeholder support of projects.
  • Ability to lead and influence collaboration, accountability, and innovation across the business and functional areas.
  • Strong business, strategic, critical, and analytical thinking.
  • Result-oriented with a proven execution background with ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple initiatives and develop solutions where blueprints may not exist.

Salary & Benefits


The annual base salary for this role is listed below.


Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between


$171,200.00 CAD - $317,700.00 CAD
