Volunteer Scientific Editors Jobs

The Canadian Science Fair Journal is a national peer-reviewed publication that showcases science projects by children and youth from across the country. CSFJ is Canada's leading publisher of youth research and the first of its kind to provide young authors with in-depth mentorship and publication guidance through its editorial team.

Editors work closely with student authors to mentor them through the process of writing their first scientific articles by providing constructive feedback and guidance on science writing and the peer-review process.

This year we are specifically looking for editors in the following topic areas. However, applications to all sections will be considered.

• Engineering - 1
• Chemistry - 1
• Computer Science - 5
• Environmental Sciences - 1
• Psychology and Neuroscience - 3
• Medical Sciences and Physiology - 2
• Biology - 1
• Physics - 1

Responsibilities

• Communicate with members of your section team on article progress and questions
• Provide one-on-one mentorship to child and youth authors through constructive, timely feedback

Qualifications

• Kind, patient, and excellent communication skills
• Experience with mentoring and/or working with younger students is ideal
• Strong organizational skills
• Research experience in the specific field to which they are applying (e.g. graduate and undergraduate students with research experiences are encouraged to apply)
