The Role:
- Process requests for Investigator suggested Studies (ISS)
- Present scientific data on a reactive basis to HCPs or groups of HCPs
- Communicate Insights gained
- Implement individualize HCP Engagement Plans as appropriate
- Report any Adverse Events (AEs) and/or Product Quality Complaints (PQC)
- Respond to requests for medical information
- Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with key HCPs, initially in the vaccination community and in the future for the additional Moderna pipeline
- Develop an understanding of the regional landscape including specialties involved in care of patients and strategically map, identify, profile and prioritize HCPs in line with the medical plan and goals
- Collaborate with physicians and lead Medical Affairs initiatives including publications, advisory boards, medical education opportunities, training, and speaker development
- Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to external disease experts and internal stakeholder training
- Maintain accurate and compliant reporting and documentation of MSL activities and budget
- Generate tactical regional plans to provide needs based, value-added support of the medical and scientific community in-line with company goals
- Maintain effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders while maintaining full compliance with requirements (e.g. medical: promotional staff)
- Support clinical development and research initiatives as appropriate
- Communicate clinical insights on new data to the company Medical Affairs Dept (to inform medical strategy for the therapeutic area)
- Train internal stakeholders on key scientific and medical topics in relevant therapeutic area
- Acquires and maintains a level of scientific knowledge in an assigned therapeutic area(s) and/or disease state(s) involving clinical issues; able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/ clinical data and evaluates current and new information as it applies to therapies.
- Working knowledge of virtual presentation platforms, social media and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Candidate must have a strong understanding of compliance frameworks and demonstrable ability to work compliantly in a field-based role, within the medical organization, as well as interacting with the commercial organization
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% within assigned region
- Valid Driver's license
- Fluency in local language
- Ability to recognize opportunities/gaps/obstacles, then take ownership to find creative, innovative solutions that question convention, and then see them through to completion
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Medical Affairs or Medical Science role
- Must live near a major airport
- Candidates will ideally have well-established networks, understanding of decision-making structures and active relationships with HCPs in the therapy area.
- Proven ability to take initiative, determine priorities and exercise good judgment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Accepts new challenges with curiosity and drive while remaining positive in the face of obstacles
- Robust and current clinical development experience supporting drugs to treat rare diseases; prior vaccines/infectious disease(s) experience preferred
- Advanced scientific degree required– MD, PhD, PharmD, or MSc
