Job Description

Astellas Pharma Canada is currently searching for Contract Medical Science Liaisons for the Territory of Eastern Canada (Quebec and Atlantic) reporting to the Associate Director, Medical Science Liaisons. It is preferred that the incumbent reside in the Montreal area, and it is required that the incumbent is fluent in both French and English. This a one year contract position.



Description

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a trusted advisor for scientific exchange to Key External Experts (KEEs) and stakeholders throughout the product life cycle. In this role the incumbent is responsible for gathering intelligence from the field that generates medical insight as well as collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders, within and outside of Medical Affairs. In addition, this role is responsible for contributing to the planning and development of local medical strategies and to execute the tactical field plans for engagement with the medical/scientific community for a product.



Essential Job Duties

Scientific and Interaction Expertise

  • Actively seek future stakeholders (KEEs, Nurses, Pharmacists etc.) in alignment with local health care system.
  • Engage in discussions regarding evolving trends in disease state management, trends in therapy.
  • Engage external stakeholders in one-on-one interactions and group settings, including formal scientific meetings, demonstrating an excellent scientific and clinical knowledge as well as an understanding of stakeholder needs.
  • Support Medical Education activities.
  • Demonstrates high level of proficiency in interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in scientific exchange in which knowledge about product(s), disease(s) and therapeutic areas is shared to ensure safe and effective use of Astellas products.
  • Maintain medical and scientific knowledge and staying current to enable peer-to-peer scientific exchange.
  • Develop and execute local Medical Affairs strategies and activities
  • Knowledgeable on local health care environment and health care dynamics.



Required Qualifications

  • Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years.
  • Advanced scientific degree including Ph.D., Pharm.D., MD, M.Sc. in a healthcare or scientific discipline.
