Social Media Intern (Summer)

We’re looking for a skilled content creator to be our new Social Media Intern this summer! The social media intern will work alongside the Taste Media team to create amazing social media content for multiple platforms. The role will consist of capturing content, both photo and video, at various restaurants, bars and food spots around Toronto for our social media handles (@tastetoronto) as well as for our website (www.tastetoronto.com). Our intern will be responsible for editing their own content.

Our intern will generate interesting ideas for social media content, staying up to date on the latest social media trends and thinking of ways to optimize and create that content for our audience.

• Hybrid model (will be on-site at shoots when needed)
• Expected hours: 20-25 hours per week
• Compensation: $17/hour
• Will need to be available on-site at our festivals and events (June 16-18, August 10-13)

Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with the latest social media trends (Instagram, TikTok) and create content accordingly
• Assist in producing content for ongoing social media campaigns and events
• Work with our brand partners to create tailor-made social media content
• Execute on content ideas and create meaningful, engaging content
• Generating interesting, fun content ideas for our social media platforms
• Assist the team in producing ongoing content series’
• Work with the team to organize shoots and meet deadlines
• Edit and deliver quality content in a timely manner

Who You Are

• You love food––the way it looks, smells, tastes. Food tells you a story and you love finding new places to eat and drink!
• Advanced knowledge of video and photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro)
• Able to generate interesting ideas for social media content, and immediately execute on them
• A go-getter; you take initiative and ownership of your projects
• An enthusiastic social media creator that can generate ideas, plan, storyboard and execute on them
• Experience using social media management tools (Later, MailChimp, Hootsuite, etc.)
• Experience with creating organic social media content
• In-depth knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
• Experience creating engaging video and photo content for social media (Reels, TikTok)
• A team player who likes to make suggestions and confidently contributes ideas
• You know your way around a DSLR/mirrorless camera, and have one of your own
