Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.
This position runs from August 7, 2023 to December 8, 2023. To apply, please submit a resume that includes a link to a one-minute vertical intro video.
Your role
Are you an analytical, data-driven thinker with a deep understanding of social media for Gen Z? Join our creative Street Cents team at CBC and be a part of something special.
We're looking for a talented Social Media Producer to cover a four-month, full-time contract during a parental leave absence. As part of our team, you'll support the creation of daily short-form videos on platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, IG Reels, and Snapchat.
Street Cents focuses on sharing engaging and relatable financial literacy and consumer stories for teens. Our brand is driven by facts and journalism, free from marketing or sponsorships.
As our Social Media Producer, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your strategic thinking and creativity. We value expertise and foster collaboration with a passionate team of professionals dedicated to creating audience-first content.
Your Daily Responsibilities Will Include
  • Utilizing Premiere Pro for video editing and repurposing content across platforms.
  • Applying best SEO practices to optimize content discoverability on social platforms.
  • Maximizing reach and engagement through content posting, special projects and online community building.
  • Moderating comments and responding to messages in a clear brand voice.
  • Suggesting and executing adjustments to achieve goals.
  • Analyzing and monitoring metrics to identify trends and themes for brand growth.
  • Tracking and reporting progress towards success metrics.
Throughout The Week, You'll Also Collaborate To
  • Pitch unique and actionable content ideas to empower teenagers in making smart financial decisions.
  • Build weekly content calendars and schedule posts on social media platforms.
  • Support content creators with in-field iPhone shooting and simple studio production.
  • Engage with the community to build positive relationships with our audience.
We Are Looking For a Candidate With The Following
  • Minimum three years of experience managing social media brands, including TikTok and YouTube.
  • Strong skills in smartphone filming techniques, including vertical video and audio recording, and aptitude for enhancing content through technical improvements in filming, editing, and production to elevate visuals and formats.
  • Experience with video editing software (Premiere Pro/Adobe Suite) and content repurposing.
  • Proficiency in using analytics tools to monitor performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize content for maximum reach, engagement, and discoverability.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving digital environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Gen Z social trends and understanding of teen preferences on various platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with content creators and teams.
We are a mission-driven team dedicated to helping teens learn how to earn, spend, and save smarter. We offer a hybrid work system with one day a week at our CBC office in downtown Toronto. You may also be required to use filming facilities on other days.
Despite the short-term nature of the contract, we can help you explore career paths within CBC and connect you with relevant contacts.
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
If this sounds interesting, please click on ''Apply online''. We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected will be contacted.
