Job Title: Senior Planner & Scheduler
Summary of Scope of Work
This position is to support Project Controls Manager with
- Participating in the Gate Review Process.
- Contributing to the implementation and sustainment of the most effective and integrated planning and scheduling tools and systems.
- Providing leadership and oversight of planning and scheduling activities for assigned projects
- Participating in the preparation of management plans and procedures.
- Managing linkage between schedule and cost to facilitate budgeting for assigned projects.
- Providing the Time Impact Analysis services for assigned projects.
- Implementing interface management with respect to scheduling.
- Implementing changes to project schedules through effective change management.
- Participating in the risk management process for assigned projects.
- Implementing and sustaining progress and performance measurement processes, procedures, and tools. Measuring outcomes and reporting on progress and performance.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Understanding of both project owner and project execution requirements.
- Proficient in software applications relevant to the work, including Primavera 6, MS Project and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel (pivot table, v-lookup, charts), PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, and Project. Linear planning / scheduling software TILOS will be an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with time impact analysis, what-if scenarios, and recovery schedules.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
- Ability to be recognized and serve as a subject matter expert to project management team to provide technical guidance and recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience with preparing different schedules such as Stage Gate Schedule, Pre-construction Schedule, Design Schedule, Execution Strategy Schedule etc.
- Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and influencing skills; demonstrated ability to maintain effective and collaborative work relationships with stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of planning and scheduling principles, methods, procedures, and gate processes; good understanding of integration between project functions.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience related to scheduling through the end-to- end project lifecycle, from project initiation, planning, executing, controlling, monitoring to closing.
- Demonstrated experience with resource / cost loading schedules and use the Schedule information in different processes such as cash flow, budget etc.
- Sound understanding of basic engineering and construction methodologies; ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to review and evaluate recommendations proposed by others, exercising independent judgment to ensure consistency with business goals.
- Experience with goal translation, goal setting, performance management and employee development; good leadership and coaching skills.
- Strong time management; ability to prioritize and balance competing demands in a deadline driven environment.
- Well-developed organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills to manage large amounts of data.
- Demonstrated experience with all aspects of the Master Project Schedule (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Schedules) in addition to cost control and project controls in a construction environment.
Formal education/training through which skills normally acquired:
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related technical or business discipline (e.g. engineering, construction management, project management), and progressive experience in planning and scheduling and/or project management; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
Assets:
Certified Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) with the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE).
Problem Solving and Analysis :
This position must exercise problem solving and analytical abilities in order to effectively manage and interpret scheduling and cost information from a variety of sources, and to help elevate the project group knowledge and awareness on best practices on project management information system usage.
