Description
Michels Canada is currently recruiting for a Junior Scheduler. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful management and coordination of major infrastructure projects including trenchless, tunneling, civil works, power and tunnel rehabilitation projects. You will be responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of project schedules, utilizing industry standard software such as MS Project and Primavera P6. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a team of experienced professionals and make a significant impact on our construction projects. This position will be based out of the iconic Downtown Vancouver Waterfront Station heritage building in our regional office.
Responsibilities

• Foster open communication by preparing detailed reports for leadership, providing valuable insights into project-scheduling activities.
• Take charge in creating and maintaining highly detailed project schedules, ensuring every aspect is accounted for, whether it's from the proposal stage or during actual construction.
• Expertly handle change management processes, ensuring approved baseline schedules are adhered to and managing any necessary adjustments.
• Optimize cash flow by closely monitoring project progress and effectively managing accounts receivable conditions.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to interpret engineering drawings and navigate basic civil/infrastructure construction processes.
• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved.
• Establish a valuable resource for future projects by meticulously documenting project historical schedule information and lessons learned.
• Embrace a versatile approach by eagerly taking on any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficiency with MS Project or P6 is an asset
• Post secondary education in a relevant discipline with 1-3 years if scheduling experience
• Must be able to work in-office, Monday – Friday with potential visits to project sites as needed.
• Advanced MS Excel skills are required

LANGUAGES

• Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
