The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, supporting the North America Commercial Finance team. The individual will execute on or assist in key elements of the budgeting and forecasting processes, month-end and quarter-end close activities, internal management reporting, monthly financial performance analysis, and financial modeling. The team member will be an important member of the Commercial finance team and will be instrumental in supporting Canada and partnering with the Canadian leadership team in the budgeting and forecasting process. This position will be located in Markham, Ontario.
The Responsibilities
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators; identify opportunities for financial improvement and provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management.
  • Provide financial data and trend analysis through regular reporting (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual).
  • Support the GL month-end and quarter-end closing process, including preparing and posting journal entries, preparing debit memos for intercompany charge, and completing account reconciliations and various other closing requirements.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Prepare the monthly sales tax file and process the tax remittance and payments to the government.
  • Other activities to support finance team as needed, as well as special ad-hoc projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations for senior management.
  • Support business planning and budget update process through set up of templates, inputs into the system and generation of information to support the finance team.
  • Implement Process Improvements to accounting processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive process improvements and automation.
  • Ensure internal controls are efficient and effective to provide completeness, accuracy, validity and restricted access for areas of responsibility.
The Individual
Required
  • Ability to distill large amounts of data and translate analysis into compelling presentations.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite of products, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting or related business experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate professionally to all levels of an organization.
  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, business savvy, intellectual curiosity, and proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify errors or discrepancies and take action to resolve independently or involve appropriate partners as needed.
  • Experience with Canada tax reporting would be an asset (Sales tax and Corporate tax).
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy in all work.
  • Strong bias for action and results oriented.
  • Self-starter. Ability to work with little direction and problems of diverse scope with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to convey information effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or equivalent required.
Preferred
  • Experience with a tier 1 ERP (i.e. SAP, Oracle etc.)
The Key Working Relationships
Internal Partners
This individual will provide input to and otherwise support presentations made by senior finance and business management. Working across functions and departments, this individual will have contact internally at all levels. The nature of contacts will be primarily to gather and share information.
