Senior Bookkeeper - General Contractor

Harbinger Network is partnered with a boutique-sized General Contractor in the Scarborough area. They are experts in Construction Renovations, Mechanical plumbing, Custom Carpentry and General Labor. They want to add an Accountant on a full-time permanent, long-term basis. This is an excellent role if you're looking for a stable, comfortable, smaller company to grow your career.

Advanced experience using Quickbooks, Microsoft Suite and Excel is preferred in this position.

Responsibilities

Payroll Duties:

• Prepare and maintain related payroll records and reports
• Handling payroll and benefits administration
• Coordinate with Shared Services Receivable on any changes on customer's account
• Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports, queries, and conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity
• Maintain, scan, and distribute cheques, supporting documents to appropriate financial shared services teams
• Responsible for documenting workflow and work procedures related to the payroll system

AP/AR Duties:

• Reviewing subledger aging reports with management and making necessary resolving issues as they arise
• Quarterly balance sheet reporting
• Progress payments, billings and invoices
• Expense reporting and tracking for various projects
• Some coordination with suppliers/PM's if required

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years related accounting experience with a home builder or in the construction industry
• Post-secondary degree in finance/accounting or related discipline
• Must possess strong math skills and a solid understanding of financial terms
• Ability to perform data entry and communicate electronically with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Quickbooks accounting software
