Scientist, Cleaning Validation - 12 Months

What will you do?

Under the Guidance of the Senior Scientist, Validation and the Departmental Manager, the Scientist, Cleaning Validation will plan, coordinate, and execute development and validation studies to document that cleaning activities are consistently reproducible and meet the required specifications and regulatory expectations.

This position will comply with all Kenvue (a division of Johnson & Johnson) policies and quality standards, health, safety and environmental regulations, and regulatory requirements (e.g. Health Canada and the United States FDA).

Collaborate with Quality & Compliance, Plant Operations, and MS&T Engineering (if applicable) and coordinate the development, creation, review, and approval of cleaning validation documents (protocols, reports, and validation assessments).

Assist with the development and administration of the Cleaning Validation Master Plan for the J&J – Guelph Campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Advanced computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Perform other duties assigned by Senior Scientist, or Manager
• Ability to evaluate scientific data.
• Maintain operational knowledge and stay current with GMP regulations and corporate policies affecting site cleaning validation procedures.
• Coordinate with all impacted departments (e.g. Quality & Compliance and Plant Operation) and oversee the execution of all cleaning validation-related studies.
• A Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) with >2 years experience or a College Diploma coupled with >6 years experience in manufacturing and/or cleaning/process development in the pharma/OTC sector will be considered.
• Must be able to influence and facilitate groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to consensus / alignment.
• Generate, review, revise or approve cleaning validation documents (ie. assessments, documents, protocols, reports, etc.) in compliance with relevant SOPs, government regulations, and company policies.
• Co-ordinate the preparation, review and/or maintenance of cleaning validation policy documents, specifications, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory governing bodies, company requirements and quality / technical standards.
• Responsible for the co-ordination and completion of team projects and activities to meet MS&T objectives and maximize business results.
• Ability to take ownership for or work independently on project activities.
• A minimum 2 years of prior cleaning validation experience in the pharmaceutical/OTC sector is strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong leadership, organization, decision making and interaction management skills.
• Knowledge of and competence in the application of Health Canada GMPs, CFRs and ICH Guidelines.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Provide consultation to business partners and customers with regards to issues related to cleaning validation management, planning and resolution.

• Previous project management experience
• Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Formulation or B. Eng. (Chemical)
• Knowledge of process excellence
