Mission

We are seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Infrastructure Field Services Team supporting water and wastewater facility projects in southern Ontario. You will oversee water treatment, wastewater treatment and pumping station projects during the construction phase and work with our technical experts to provide construction inspection services. Your role will be important in the support of our communities with vital drinking water and wastewater treatment infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities

• Document construction site activities by keeping a detailed daily diary, taking photos, performing survey checks, and recording as-built conditions and use this information to prepare inspection reports
• Site inspection on municipal construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards, engineering design and technical specifications
• Provide problem resolution/field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues and identify and monitor deficiencies
• Manage requests for information from the contractor, which includes performing the initial review of the RFI request for clarity and the provision of a timely response to the requests
• Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing for concrete, granular materials and asphalt and liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, various utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required
• Review and comment on construction progress payment certificates and quotations

Profile

• Minimum of three years of related experience in municipal engineering water or wastewater treatment construction inspection
• Engineering degree in a related field
• Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, in matters arising from construction projects
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite
• MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle
