The Role

Your Role and Responsibilities :

Platforms are what give a business its competitive advantage and reduce technical debt. Business users and developers use them to standardise and accelerate the delivery and operation of digital services. Without platforms organisations duplicate effort at scale. Here at Kyndryl our platform engineers are central to our cloud strategy. They use software engineering to automate and codify, the provisioning of IaaS and PaaS resources, to create a diverse set of business and developer platforms. These platforms range from landing zones to operations tooling providing a control plane and observability; to Kubernetes, API and integration, messaging, data, DevSecOps tooling; to contact centres, CRM, ERP, data and insights, low-code, identity access and machine learning. They are also experienced in new ways of working such as DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Agile Delivery. They are at the edge of technology, working in cross functional squads to rapidly deliver cloud solutions for our customers. Your role will be to work with our customers, in this exciting environment. This is an engineering role providing a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse mix of large and complex customers projects. With our global partner Alliances, you will have opportunities to work on projects that involve a whole range of technologies from Azure to AWS and GCP, as well as Private Clouds. You will have the opportunity to work with Kyndryl customers across multiple industries. You will work closely with our customers, our Kyndryl teams, our cloud partners, and our 3rd party service providers. You will be working closely with the Kyndryl Cloud Architects, Project Managers and technical subject matter experts. You will deliver against the architected designs to implement the solution to drive our customers forward.

Who You Are

You are a Cloud Platform Engineer, confident working in cross functional teams, with our customers, using agile delivery. You are technology driven with deep skills and experience in realising these cutting edge Hybrid Cloud solutions. You will work with highly skilled Cloud Architects to develop and execute complex solutions for our customers, using the latest technologies. Working closely with the customer, our Kyndryl technical Teams, and our partners you will use your balanced mix of skills covering technologies, industry knowledge, stakeholder management, leadership, and an innovative approach to design complex solutions.

Who You Are

Required Professional and Technical Expertise :

• Strong communication and client facing skills. The candidate must be experienced in dealing with client counterparts and other key stakeholders.
• Cloud Service Adoption – Experience in adopting, enhancing and optimising a customer’s cloud solution.
• Strong knowledge of Scripting Languages, and Toolsets for CI/CD Pipelines.
• Ability to work using Agile Methodologies, such as Scrum, SaFE, Kanban.
• A desire to constantly learn new skills and adapt to the ever changing cloud landscape.
• Modern Operations – Experience in auto-provisioning and using cloud native operations tooling to control and observe the platforms, products and applications running in public, private and edge cloud. Knowledge of different operations models. Experience in optimising a cloud service using FinOps and SRE.
• Ability to explain and educate technical and non-technical people on new technologies.
• Platform Engineering – Experience in working with other platform engineers to auto-provision IaaS and PaaS resources, to create 3 or more of the following platforms: landing zones, Kubernetes, API and integration, messaging, data, DevSecOps tooling, contact centres (AWS Connect), CRM, ERP, data and insights, low-code, identity access and machine learning.
• New Ways of Working – Experience in two or more of the following: DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Agile Delivery, Product-Based delivery to automate, optimise and provision cloud solutions and platforms.
• In depth knowledge of one or more of the Cloud Hyperscalers (Microsoft Azure / AWS / Google).
• Strong knowledge of Automation Tools, and processes. Such as Terraform, Github, Ansible.
• Networking and security of cloud solutions and in particular Kubernetes.
• Cloud Migration – Experience in migrating platforms, products and applications to the cloud using an agile approach.

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise :

• Good Knowledge of DevSecOps tooling and pipelines.
• Good knowledge of API and integration.
• Good knowledge of Advanced Networking.
• Good knowledge of Kubernetes Solutions (e.g. AKS, GKE, EKS, OpenShift etc..) and Tools.
• Good knowledge of security controls.
