Position Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Systems Administrator to join our team, preferably in the Ottawa region.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in large-scale environments. In this role you will monitor and maintain private cloud application framework platform services. Key experience to perform well in this role include: previous experience installing and configuring Linux servers per client specifications; maintaining and balancing the server load, as well as, monitoring and diagnosing performance issues. In addition, you would benefits from previous experience supporting multiple development/deployment teams, and maintaining necessary back-up files and documentation.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Configure and define parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), hubs, routers, switches, controllers
• Monitor and Diagnose system resource and performance issues
• Maintain necessary back-up of the important files and document Linux scripts for future reference
• Maintaining and balancing the load on the server
• Control over the servers via WHM/cPanel
• Maintain servers on AWS
• Perform routine checks on the Linux servers
• Monitor the servers and Linux scripts regularly and perform troubleshooting steps
• Test and install the latest software on server for end-users
• Install and configure Linux servers in the network per specifications of clients

Must Have Skills

• Unix/Linux,
• Experience with Configuration Management tools including: Puppet, Salt, Ansible, and Chef
• Salt/Ansible,
• 2 years of experience in languages including: Python, Go, C/C++, and Java
• Understanding of continuous Integration/Delivery, Agile Methodologies, Scrum, and Build and Release
• Jenkins, and
• Knowledge and experience working with Linux, Microsoft, VMware operating systems
• 1-2 years of experience in container application automation, specifically with Kubernetes and Docker as well as experience in related tools including:
• Bash,
• AWS/VMWare/Cisco
• Previous experience working on federal government projects including holding a Government of Canada Security Clearance (Secret level)

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience with BMC Software platforms
