Senior System Administrator Jobs

Conpute is seeking a Senior System Administrator / Virtualization Specialist to join our growing Managed Services support team located in Whitby. Reporting to the Director of Managed Services this role will become an integral part of the infrastructure team. RESPONSIBILITES:

• Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills as you will provide complete support for client environments including hardware, operating systems, software with an emphasis on line of business applications and network equipment
• Responsible for maintaining multiple Windows Terminal Services Management, Remote Desktop farms for large customers (500+ users)
• Create, deploy, and maintain HCI environments that relies on VMware products such as vSphere, Horizon and vSAN
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior team members
• Work on IT tickets as needed and interact with clients remotely via telephone and other remote technologies
• Monitor systems daily and pinpoint problem areas; proactively design and install upgrades, releases, and application patches; update drivers, servers, and firmware with newer technology
• Configure and administer Windows Active Directory and Azure at over 50 client sites
• Lead and participate in multiple large scale migrations and infrastructure projects at a time
• Participate in infrastructure planning by gathering system data, researching possible solutions, developing, and presenting their design ideas, and thoughtfully evaluating suggestions from others. In addition, evaluate industry trends and assist in implementing standards and best practices
• Resolving more complex issues requiring detailed systems and applications knowledge; with issues that have been escalated from Tier 1
• Setup, configure and support HP network switches and Fortinet firewalls
• Travel to our various locations will as required
• Oversee multiple datacenter locations running VMware 7, vSAN and VMWare Horizon.
• Use, update, and contribute content to our internal knowledge base
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation and after-hours activities and project work as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• VCP – VMware 6 or 7
• Microsoft certifications. Preference given to candidates holding current MS certifications.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the IT field with 5+ years (minimum) related experience in a small-to-medium Managed IT Services environment
• 3-5 years’ experience with installing, configuring, and supporting Windows Server 2012-2019; including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Office 365 services.
• Demonstrated ability to configure and maintain WatchGuard, Cisco, Fortinet and HP networking devices and firewalls
• Mitel, Ring Central experience would be preferred
• Preference will be given to candidates who have previous been employed at a Managed Services Provider
• Strong time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
• Experience working with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services in a Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019 environment
• Solid planning and organizational skills including the ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize and monitor several responsibilities
• Experience in VMware Horizon for both RDSH and VDI deployments
• Must possess a vehicle, valid driver's license
• VMWare vSphere and vSAN – minimum 3 years hands on experience
