What You Will Do

• Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and plans.
• Apply regular maintenance patches and conduct testing during software patch activities.
• Ensure systems are operated in accordance with established security practices.
• Act as a mentor to peers to advance their learning and facilitate their professional development.
• Maintain and operate multiple environments for use in development, testing, training, and live/backup production operations.
• Create/maintain configuration items (CIs) with collaboration with the IT Operations and OT Operations Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
• Develop and document system/application/database disaster recovery (DR) plans for core operating platforms.
• Monitor vendor software patch notifications and perform and document regular patch assessments.
• Use visualization tools like PowerBI, Service Now, iDashboards and Tableau to produce rich, visual dashboards to ensure ongoing performance, stability, and security of Digital Services operating tools. Implement enhancements to provide additional functionality, improved reliability/maintainability, and problem correction.
• Work with system/business owners to confirm/document data classification, prepare application designs depicting data repositories and data flows, and facilitate security reviews and approvals.
• Provide system/application/database expertise during upgrade activities.
• Develop/determine/document system/application availability/performance/stability targets, thresholds, and baselines.
• Execute projects and assist project teams involved in upgrades and enhancements of supported Digital Services systems and operating tools.
• Monitor application/system metrics and status of supported operating tools and use the IT Service Management (ITSM) platform to develop operational reports and follow established process control procedures to manage incidents, changes, and problems.
• As Governance, Technical, Quality and Security Lead for the DevOps Tools with core accountabilities for supporting coordination of Incident Management, Problem Management, Configuration Change Management, and following Security Systems Management procedures, ensure that applications and databases used are built and maintained in strict compliance with applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements.
• Update system/application/database roadmap to reflect sustainment/enhancements/upgrades.
• With a focus on supporting the Modern Engineering Team in the Digital Centres of Excellence, Enterprise Architecture, ISD, this role will design, setup, configure, govern, administrate, manage and support the DevOps Tools and Agile methodologies, provide prompt and efficient technical support to users of applications, repositories, infrastructure/environments, CI/CD pipelines, landing zones/databases, on-prem and cloud to ensure efficient daily operation, and project/product development.
• Perform and coordinate software changes, upgrades, user testing, and training.
• Using software version control tools, modern application containerization and orchestration technology, develop new software build processes, and leverage the tools, technology, and processes to assess, design, develop, deploy, and test resilient, clustered cross-site high-availability (HA) implementations and upgrades of applications and databases and related custom applications and standard software products.
• Develop close customer relationships to identify potential improvements to existing systems and new system requirements.
• Maintain Digital Services applications, databases, and systems to support business processes and ensure secure, stable operation.
• Ensure that system/application/database designs comply with corporate IT security policies relating to access control, data protection, information technology/processes/procedures, system monitoring and security event detection, resiliency planning, and incident response/recovery.
• Work with vendors, consultants, and cross-functional internal teams to assess, design, and test standard products used within the suite of operating tools.
• Provide after-hours on-call support to Digital Services operating/support teams.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Provide oversight of system/application/database design and development, to help Digital Services system/applications/tools teams ensure secure, stable production operations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Operating Tools systems, applications, and databases to support business processes and ensure secure, stable operation. Analyze operating requirements, create functional specifications, deploy software, and integrate with business processes. Receive, assess, and validate new and revised business requirements and facilitate review by architecture teams. Solicit proposals from internal/external parties to meet business needs.
• Troubleshoot issues with configuration files and software binaries.

Selection Criteria

• Extensive technical knowledge of software and systems used in the portfolio of development operating (DevOps) tools, and knowledge of other operating platforms/applications/tools.
• Demonstrated record of self-motivated behavior and perseverance to accomplish objectives in spite of obstacles.
• Knowledge of HA/DR application/database technologies including clustering, load balancing, and replication.
• Intermediate knowledge of computer technology and equipment configurations, operating systems and application programming to develop, support, troubleshoot, and optimize system-level software and scripts.
• Knowledge of application authentication and authorization methods.
• In depth comprehensive knowledge and years of working directly on the GitLab DevOps platform
• Experience with Atlassian Jira issue tracking software.
• Thorough understanding of the ITIL framework, particularly Service Transition and Service Operation phases, and experience working with Change Management, Knowledge Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management processes.
• Demonstrated success using GitLab Pages to develop web-based application documentation maintained in a GitLab repository.
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting, Ansible, Infrastructure-as-Code tools, Orchestration tools, and use of Desired State Configuration (DSC) for automated infrastructure and database builds.
• Professional level of oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide prompt and effective after-hours on-call support for critical applications.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate work, and work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of databases and experience with data analysis and report preparation.
• Extensive experience design, configuring, administering, and supporting the Microsoft Azure Enterprise Dev, Test, SIT environments.
• Familiarity with the test management platforms and automated testing tools.
• Broad technical knowledge of IT assets, use, connectivity, and asset management using life-cycle management methodologies.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Advanced programming skills using modern languages.
• Demonstrated experience managing CI/CD pipelines and code repositories for multiple products, development teams, external users, etc. while maintain secure operations and governing processes.
• In depth comprehensive knowledge and years of working directly on the Azure DevOps platform
