The Opportunity:
BluMetric (BLM) is currently seeking an Applications Engineer in Ontario reporting to the Director of CleanTech Technologies. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and technical skills and will need to possess strong communication and organizational skills to be involved with many projects and proposals simultaneously. The successful candidate will assume overall responsibility for the design of water and wastewater treatment systems utilizing, Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, Media Filtration, Membrane Bioreactors, as well as other unit operations, and preparing budgetary and final proposals. In addition, the Applications Engineer is responsible to assist in seeing awarded projects through execution and commissioning.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with market leaders, client managers, as well as customers. Assist with sales calls, design-kickoff meetings, and coordination of consultants and suppliers.
- Apply costing and process design strategies to position the company, in the early stages of project development, to increase the probability of success.
- Provide engineering support as assigned and maintain a working knowledge of projects, including generating “Final Bid” proposals, process designs, Process and Instrumentation and General Drawings.
- Adhering to all internal procedures related to bid preparation, proposal tracking, order packages, and forecasting.
- Generate budgetary proposals, process designs, piping and instrumentation designs, and general arrangement drawings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise with the use of AutoCAD and other standard scientific and engineering software and applications.
- Some travel may be required.
- Weekend work may be required.
- Degree in process or chemical engineering from an accredited school and/ or hold a P.Eng. license in the province of Ontario/ equivalent in Quebec in good standing. Professional license in other jurisdictions is an asset.
- May be required to use PPE.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
- The ability to interact, be able to work in a project team environment with all types of clients and teammates; proactive and able to manage time well; able to build relationships.
- May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills with working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs.
- Fifteen (15) years of experience working on industrial projects in the water/ wastewater field; mining industry experience would be a strong asset.
- Ability to work and complete tasks independently, make decisions and take responsibility for technical matters.
